Roll Call

Post by ElvisJJonesRambo »

After 5 years, has this game run its course? Meaning, seems the foot traffic and players are down, which is understandable.

1) Who's still playing? I certainly am.
2) ELO league volume has dropped. Was thinking about a new league or reset, but that's pointless with the volume. The rankings look rather accurate (works), despite most names don't play anymore. So is life of gaming.
3) Who's planning on buying the SC-Pacific that's releasing later this month. Me? Most likely.
4) Anyone know about the player volume at Steam for SC-WaW?
5) Steam have Forums & ELO type leagues? (guess there's one way to find out)

I'm still playing but restrict myself to just 1 game at a time.

Same here, just one game at a time (of each serie: WWI, WaW and ACW)

I will buy SC-Pacific for sure!

Company leader to identify Baker Team, ELO Team - Fafnir, DmitryN, Thunderlizard11, Bavre, Marcinos1985, OldAHGamer, redrum68, HamburgerMeat, and the many more, confirm! This is Colonel Trautman.

I'm afraid the middle class has been destroyed, where are the Top 40?
That is, only players left playing are Top 5 talent (when their wife allows) and Newbies (when their Mom allows).

Sorry for your loss Trautman. Seems the theater is empty. Maybe it's time to roll the end credits and melancholy closing ballad.

Not sure if your post is a call out to the elite players? Or anybody? I am playing, anyway. WatW almost exclusively. Probably won't buy another game as I am comfortably mediocre in this one.
I don't have a mom. I have a new wife in life part #2 that lets me do what I want - mostly.

What the hell? How do you rate top talent anyways? By playing in the WaW ELO? I know and play many players here in the SC ecosystem who don't play in the ELO score ranking regime for a variety of reasons. (Those reasons I will remain silent about atm). They are all good opponents, are very competitive, are sportsman, and are having fun.
So what is it anyways? The rest of us are simply squires and not knights if we don't play ranked matches? My inquiring mind wants to know.

I have always wondered and found it odd that a lot of the matches posted on the ELO forum end at weird dates, like in 1941 or even 1940 for example. Why is that anyways? Is it because folks throw in the towel early at the slightest reverse, noob stomping, rage quitting, or a combination? I'm sure some matches may go long, but it seems from reading a lot more don't. To my point of view, and others I might add, playing on to the bitter end as the 'loser' of a contest takes talent too. Alot of talent, and fortitude. Also, it lets the victor enjoy the spoils more fully.

I'm not criticizing ELO at all. Hats off to you all that earn your badges of honor or dishonor in a public fashion. Just don't forget there are others here in the community that labor on in the warlands, unheralded, and unsung.Your 'Roll Call' sounds like some kind of exclusive club here. I'm here to tell you there are many more of us that can do the job, and do it well, and have fun doing it.

Think of it as The Devil's Brigade in addition to The Dirty Dozen.

There's over 114 players listed in the ELO.
There's probably hundreds, of independents.
This is not a call for Elites, I'm not a snob.
Didn't want to type the entire genealogy.
Nor is the Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, instructing recruits to give reach-arounds.
Nor is it the Lamb's Book of Life, defining final destination of Sheep and Goats.

@Old_Shane --- You're a Western Hero, loved it when you took down Jack Wilson.
@OldCrowBalthazor --- You've battled in so many wars of the centuries, gonna call you Highlander! There can only be One.

Still here and playing a few games at a time. Most on ELO but some not. Would be great to see an influx of players.

As for buying the SC-Pacific, I will look at it for sure. I bought War Plan Pacific and it was OK but AI was a bit weak so it gor boring, Never did much WP MP.

@ThunderLizard --- Thanks for reporting, Sir. I'm leaning on getting the Pacific game. Since it's Summer, might not be immediate. Haven't touched the SC-Civil War in ages. Wonder if they got playable.

Yup. I recall two instances where the Japanese AI stalled out invading the Philippines and Malaya never finishing the job. Then it was just a matter of shuttling in some Allied strategic bombers to those locations and burning their Indonesian oil wells to the ground. :|

Still around but having a short break. Over 100 PBEM games, half on ELO. Worked on the Pacific beta but its not the game for me (despite strong interest in Pacific theatre).

Still visit the forum every now and again.

Still playing SC-World at War.
Summertime, not sure I'm ready to game more, well, try something new just yet.
I've learned, let them iron the game out somewhat.
I'm too old for trailblazing.
Did that with SC-Civil War.

When I have time I still play SC WW2: War in Europe, but not so much SC WW2: World at War, as I prefer the more focused Europe-only game and the larger map scale.

Not yet, not until it's been released. Then everyone can share their opinions freely.
