Re: Does someone really understand IJA's dumb decisions?

Here is a controversial view. Up to the point where Japan declared war on the US, and the events leading up to that, most of the aggressive actions by local commanders would have looked like successes to the average Japanese person.

I understand that the Japanese mindset at the time was it is OK to ...

Looking for PBEM Guadalcanal - Either side

Newbie looking to learn PBEM. I will play either side and if you are experienced that is just fine as I want to learn all the things I am doing wrong.

Be patient and ready to take the game not too seriously if interested.

Re: House Rules for AE Shorter Senarios and Quiet China?

Well you won't need hr,s quite China scenarios. Most people won't play a pbem with quite China. But welcome to AE. HR's are a matter of taste. I play with a minimum of HR's....GP

Well, I view the game a much as a learning tool as a game, I play locally more often. But I wanted to better ...

House Rules for AE Shorter Senarios and Quiet China?

Newbie, I halfway understand the HRs in the forum, but I am trying to get a better understanding of the why of why each is needed.

So, if I were playing anything other than the Grand Campaign, which HRs should still be considered?

For example, while some clearly no longer apply at all, are night ...

Re: Question about disbanding Major Forts

Thanks again for the help. It looks like these are basically the same thing, Port fortresses, in both games. In WitW you leave units in them to deny the best ports to the Allies for as long as possible as near as I can tell. I was trying to figure out what they were intended to be.

Re: Question about disbanding Major Forts

TY, hmmm that might have changed between games. In WitW you could create and disband fort counters and the counters had troops assigned. These units existed to increase or maintain fort level.

I guess the question is specific to WitW only.

Re: Question about disbanding Major Forts

Heh, I'm still a newbie. I am asking about the fort counter, like Brest, in WitW. Sorry for technically off topic post.

Question about disbanding Major Forts

This came up for me in WiTW originally, but there seem to be major forts that can't be disbanded.

Is there a way to disband them or otherwise save your troops?

Do these forts have any special meaning or use?

Question about Axis Major Fortified zones (Brest and etc.)

1. Is it possible to disband them or otherwise save the attached troops?
2. Is there any real benefit from defending them with more units after the allies are ashore?
