Re: Yugoslavian Coup

Taifun wrote: Tue Sep 02, 2025 6:31 am It is indeed random; it can even be delayed until 1942.
That's unfortunate :( Is it random per turn or randomly fixed though? Maybe the devs can answer that?

I hope you are working on a great AAR against DmitryN!
I'll trade you for one of you vs Cpuncher XD

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

Here is the thing. Every turn the Allies can hold out in France helps Russia. If France falls in April, even May the Germans have too much time to subdue Malta, invade North Africa, invade Greece, crush Yugoslavia, get Hungary, Rumania and Bulgaria as allies and build every panzer army in the ...

Yugoslavian Coup

How does it actually work? I've (almost) exclusively received this choice in February as allies, and it happens in March. But when I'm axis, my opponents often get to coup in April or even May. Is there a random chance per turn for it to happen or is it fixed at game start?

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

If the French send their Syrian and one Algerian corp, the Rhone river corps and abandon the Maginot Line and move the corps around Paris ( the idea being to force the Germans to destroy every French corps and armies before Paris falls) and use British North African units to cover Algeria and the ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

@Umeu --- I will give you credit, call it the Umeu Opening. Like a chess move, there's nothing better. Really not a reason to do anything but that. I'm not gonna play against that. There's nothing France can do, except die. x2 Panzers, already Northwest Belgium. All the space, is opened up. It's ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

@Umeu --- Dude, you've taken the game to a different level. If you teach everyone your new openings and strategies, gonna change everything. Almost to a point of playing Chess. There are plenty of good player, but your study is insane on the combinations. Your Polish opening is crazy good. Now ...

What is funny about my game with Elvis. While I have not played for 2 years I did not know about the strategy of allies attack against Italy NA from Tunis in early game (now I have read AAR and know that it is not first time used). So I had no plans or ideas to counter it. Just moved bombers and ...

Re: Axis Openings to Grand Strategy Guide

A great post Umeu - well done.

Thanks for sharing your strategies. I just wanted to add a bit of tactical advice.

My first job as Axis (and this applies equally to the Allies) is to set all HQs to 'Auto-Assist' instead of 'Auto'. There are several key units on the front line on T1 that are not ...

The Devil in the Details

My take on Japan's Optimal Opening (JOO)

Reorganize the North & Manchukao
I always send the HQ and the army in Hsinking to the Wuhan area. I upgrade the remaining two armies in Manchukao. The corps get sent to the Beijing area, though this takes several turns, as you ...

The Devil in the Details

My take on Germany's Optimal Opening (GOO)

Forget about T1 or T2 Poland. The real question is whether you can 1 tank or no tank Poland, whether you must use 3 bombers or can get away with using less. The idea is to move as many heavy-hitting units to France on the first ...

Key decisions to make in 1939

Germany
If 3rd paratroopers were not taken, to build a maritime bomber or not?
If you decided to say yes to sending the paratroopers to Breslau, you should have some MPP you can spend on units in November or December, unless you're taking heavy damage in France ...

Axis Openings to Grand Strategy Guide

Key decisions to make on the first turn

Germany:
Poland in one or two?
There are many ways to take Warsaw, and there are ups and downs to taking it on the first turn, which means Poland is very likely to surrender (though it's not guaranteed) that same turn. The ups include taking less damage to ...

I believe so yes, we made some changes a while back so that previous capitals are considered and will return to those when available again.

Not sure if WAD, but pretty sure Bordeaux stays the capital of France for Axis if France falls after Bordeaux became capital. Paris becomes just an ...

great to hear it made a difference!

I currently find it hard to see how allies should ever lose a game between evenly matched opponents. But I'm working on some ideas with Axis to counter what you just described.

Re: Tips for playing Allies in MP.

I finished my game with a major victory for the allies at the end of 1945.

Following Umeu strategy, I was able to survive as both Russia and China and then launch couter offensives that saw the Russians take Berlin and the Chinese clear their country of the Japanese. I defeated Japan first, using ...

Re: Allied supply in the Caucasus

I tested it in WaW not too long ago, though from Allied side, and Russian units in for example China or India get max 3 supply from a normal settlement. So they can go 2 hexes outside that settlement at lvl 5 to still get enough supply to boost the next one as far as I am aware.

Idk about upgrading ...

Re: Allied supply in the Caucasus

They can’t operate, but they receive maximum 3 supply from settlements. So if your logistics tech is high enough (I think you need lvl 5, but maybe 4 works), you can get 8 supply from hq.

Judging by your tank tech, it’s end 42 or early 43? So UK can easily have lvl 5 if they prioritized double ...

Re: Sweden surrender

Minors (and majors also but works slightly different) have a small chance to survive if they still have units and morale above 0.

Happens often in Belgium to me. Also had it happen once in Yugoslavia. I thought they were surrendering after tajing their capital, so I moved my remaining units to the ...
