Also make sure you're consistently installing the game from the same source (don't mix and match a Matrix direct download with a Steam download.)

Not a lot mind, but an improvement. Although you can't see it in this picture, there are enemy infantry units in the two hexes NE of 5/A/1-11A. I watched this unit carefully and he got 1 hit with the 8 rounds fired of the Chain gun. Doesn't seem great to me, given that there is an infantry unit ...

1. Created as FPSS-6901 as a feature request.
2. Created as FPSS-6902 as a task to investigate. I'm not sure if it's already doing this behavior and you're just not getting the results you expect for some other reason or if there is a bug to fix here. We'll find out and address this when we can.

One of the big issues with transitioning mech units is we lose the automatic dismount based on SOP without adding in a bunch of code work. While I'd like to do it at some point, don't have time right now. (Plus the work for just handling mounting/dismounting easier in general.)

This is a wargame. Just because the equipment isn't important to the mission, doesn't mean the equipment isn't still important to the larger war effort.

When you get an error like that, you should see an exception window come up which has an option to save the log. Please do that next time you get it and upload that file here (or email it to us). And if you do have an error, my general recommendation is to close the game and re-open.

Assault unlike Move Delib can push through enemy units (if you have a high enough strength ratio) and is faster. So the outcome you want will control which order you want to use.

My observation of Assault, and I'll caveat that much of this coms from playing Southern Storm and playtesting CW, is that when you give a unit this order, it sits in the start hex to get ready to move out longer than it does for Hasty and Deliberate moves. Is this supposed to be this way? Am not ...

As for SOP I had them set to IFV Stay and Fight. I sometimes tried IFV Ambush. I tried both Support Passengers and Hide nearby to see of there were any differences. Fire Discipline was set to Maximum Range as I wanted to engage the enemy as soon as possible. I presume there is no need to set this ...

The correct behavior of standoff should be to not relocate until the enemy is closer than the standoff value. There are some SOP settings (and I think unit status can have an impact too?) that can fudge the behavior some.

I will slightly caveat Darwin's answer by adding that the computer player is typically using a Battleplan which is not restricted to the same deployment zones as the player is. So the computer player is often further forward than a human player is.
