Re: NATO tank gun accuracy / effectiveness

The optics are actually pretty similar (to the point of no differentiation in the game).

I would suggest that it's not even close in real life. The FLIR package on the M1A1 was insanely superior to the passive infrared on the T-80. Massive difference.

The accuracy of the tank ...

Re: Raid

While raid missions would be interesting to incorporate, it is important to remember that the technology of the Cold War is significantly different than today's and trying to shoehorn modern lessons into Cold War era equipment during a narrative that takes place with commanders having bare weeks of ...

Re: Thermal sight in heavy rain

That is the degradation. thermal range.png This is the Bradley with its thermals in the tutorial. I'm using the tutorial especially because the foggy weather means we're unable to use visual spectrum spotting. You can see how the thermals here are able to spot as far as 7 hexes away over flat ground ...

Re: SOP for Default behaviour when spotting unit

The standoff does double duty a bit with being both the threshold to keep the enemy back at and also range it searches in for withdraw distance. During movement the standoff will prevent moving closer to the enemy, but will cause a fallback. While stationary the standoff will cause a withdraw.

Re: SOP for Default behaviour when spotting unit

Not quite. Standoff range gets used for the search radius for how far to look to find a safe place to withdraw to (when standoff is violated while stationary). The search algorithm will prefer a location that is further away. That is if we have have a standoff of 6 and 2 equally good positions to ...

Re: Save files getting corrupted (Frankische Symphonie campaign)

See William's response above. The good news is that the problem only affects the save, not the gameplay. So playing past the point where it breaks is totally fine. (This is actually probably how the problem escaped detection until now. Since it only affects some saves and not the gameplay, it's easy ...

Re: NATO tank gun accuracy / effectiveness

Thank you for your feedback.

I migh not have been able to wholly comprehend your point, but from what I understand what your wrote does not address the possible serious concern as seen in the statistics extracted from the save file.

ie. the Abrams, with:

a) [allegedly] superior accuracy and ...

Re: Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War Summer Tournament

It seems that either my opponent (BYE) is not playing or I'm not getting my second game. I check every day, but there is still no result.

To be clear, I literally do not have the game(s) appearing in my MP screen (the first round finished with my two games completed - I got a grand total of THREE ...

Re: Whats the point of having a command chain?

Yup, putting too many subordinates under an HQ does apply an additional order delay penalty. It will also force you to have your HiHQ closer to the front where it is more likely to get ID'd and killed (which will apply a massive penalty to you). We also have maps/scenarios where your HiHQ will not ...

Re: NATO tank gun accuracy / effectiveness

It's difficult to draw any firm conclusions from this summary, but for consideration:
Due to the combat evaluation before firing, tanks were quite possibly engaging enemy tanks first (being greater threats), which means a shot could only result in a single platform kill. By contrast, ATGM fire was ...

Re: RNG results general discussion

A very much needed feature.

In its current state, it is impossible to determine whether I am using my units effectively or not. All the game gives me is either a hit or a miss.

Am I firing from too far? Who knows? Am I hitting but not penning, who knows etc.

A CMO like detailed breakdown of ...

Re: Ability to specify axis of withdrawal for units

We have done some work in regard to creating something like this, but it is a much more complex task than it appears from the outside, which is why it is not already in the game. Often times these confusing withdrawal locations are because of some missed detail by the player (and I fully acknowledge ...

Re: SOP for Default behaviour when spotting unit

Unfortunately this is not a simple thing that can be set via SOP. Move to concealed position is essentially stand-off behavior (it will prefer a concealed position near blue units within your standoff radius, preferring the max distance of that standoff). Stop immediately is nearly always going to ...

Re: Save files getting corrupted (Frankische Symphonie campaign)

@SchDerGrosse, I loaded your last 2 batches of saves in my Steam copy of the game and got the same results as you. Then I loaded them up in my local dev build and they all loaded just fine, so I think whatever the exact problem your experiencing is, is now fixed and should not be a problem whenever ...

Hi all,

I thought I'd start a new thread to continue some of the discussions that have been going around lately on RNG and various weapon/target combinations. Some observations below:

1. It would be useful (if possible) to have a more detailed tooltip going through the elements of a result ...

Re: Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War Summer Tournament

I enlisted in the tournament, and I got an email telling me that the challenge vs. my first opponent was ready. However, when I loaded the games, I noticed that they were already ready to play three days before.

I don't know if you should only start when you get the "READY? GO!" email or if ...

Sorry for the delay getting back to this.

@SchDerGrosse, the saves you attached load just fine for me. I'm not sure if you uploaded the wrong ones by mistake, or perhaps it is some other problem that we have already fixed.

Can you upload one of the corrupted saves here please for us to inspect (and ideally the last good save you have for it too, bonus points for a save that is corrupted and then 1 order phase earlier is good).
