However: when I hover my mouse over that button, the ‘help’ window that appears says “open sound options”. The button does a lot more than that (save, exit, autosave game, autoscroll map, supply dialog, phase dialog, proceed to next turn dialog, as well as sound options ...

I don't see any button to either save a game, or even exit it? I've had to CTRL-ALT-DEL and close it in the task manager.
