Re: Will Hitler Trump All?

I'm on re-read page 47 reviewing Japan, China, Russia.

All i can say is wow, the "formula" to supply deep exploitation fast movers using ATR and if not that to resupply artillery units for repeated ground strikes is truly impressive.

That said, think China gave up the mountains a bit early, and ...

Re: Will Hitler Trump All?

I think it is also worth mentioning the Japanese steamroller. Japan has so far conquered China, Australia, New Zealand, and India. Taken the Soviet far east,

Wow, good for Japan, unfortunately my eyes start to burn reading all those pages and I generally focus or Europe, carrier battles ...

Re: Will Hitler Trump All?

Wow, just read this through. Amazing play by Germany, Just retained the initiative all the way through never allowing Russia to brake it.

And now...did Germany go for a sand dune too far, and potentially a mountain too far, if their intent is to invade spain, and take Gibraltar, not a chance ...

Re: Rematch 4 player game (Orm, Peskpesk, jjdenver and Mayhemizer)

The other observation i had which I think someone commented on, is the use of all the ART, AA, AT and divisions creating so many 2D results..., and IMHO is quite gamey, would rather see the 2D result go to corps, (or did you play that way, hmmmm, im getting old). It does add some cool units though ...

Re: Rematch 4 player game (Orm, Peskpesk, jjdenver and Mayhemizer)

Lol, yes the Allies and I was just poking some fun.

More seriously, the number of Italian units was quite staggering later on. I assume from not taking them out, and resource lending. It seemed to answer a strategic question of mine of Africa, then Italy first (traditional) vs they are not a ...

Re: Rematch 4 player game (Orm, Peskpesk, jjdenver and Mayhemizer)

I'm on page 282, taking it page by page. Early attacks in Southern France, Denmark, Northern France, South-west France, Africa not cleared, Italy still in the war. Russia, we shall see if the engage everywhere strategy creates opportunity. Who is the grand stategist responsible for this disaster ...

I have a vision too. Purchase the MWiF maps and then build a large house around them to host them. :D

Re: A Competitive GW (Solo) Scenario by the Numbers.

Thank you, great summary. Agree on all points from my armchair.

Didn't see Italy lose all that naval though, as I didn't read all the detail, but did see 1 TRS go down.

I do wonder how much extra time it would have taken to take Spain and close Gibralter, and how that would have helped Italy over ...

Re: A Competitive GW (Solo) Scenario by the Numbers.

Really good read and battle, thank you for posting.

Can I ask what would be your strategic assessment of the battle to date, a retrospective of each countries progress and future prospects for success?

Nice move cutting off Italian supply by the British, will make up for some of their losses. High ...

Speaking of the large maps, I had a vision, I had a large house with a wall i could mount the maps, the mission was to to mount a magnetic surface on the wall (steel, oh my), so I could magnitize the back of the counters,... would have been epic, although I never realized the vision, pity.

Re: Fleet

I think in the main its not luck.

It's skill to create the conditions based on probability that an action will turn out in your favor. Probability, through statistical analysis, experience, or just plain smarts, does account for bad things to happen but at lower amount of acceptable risk.

It's ...

Re: A thought experiment about the game

Had the same thought, being in IT, but this is brown field (existing code base) programming, AI tools work better with green field, and even then. That said, the tools are all evolving quite rapidly and will only continue.

In terms of AI learning strategy from game experience, certainly makes sense ...

I'mmmm Back

Been what 6-8 years since I was regular member on the WIF forum, was one of the first to purchase the game, and get the large maps.

Used to play the board games, and was on the forum for years before the game was released.

I still recognize some of you regulars, and remaining WIF'ers.

AI finally ...
