<t>Heavens, yes. Been around for years. Pretty good on specs, though not as reliable as Steve "Tanks" Zaloga's work. If you're interested in the subject of Soviet armor, and have not yet encountered Zaloga, you are missing it. <br/>

I always thought everybody in WW2 fired a .30 cal Browning MG from the hip, same as John Wayne.

Didn't they?

P.S> When I was an armorer, I never figured out why MG's were issued with asbestos gloves. John Wayne never wore asbestos gloves. Did he?

<t>Les - Now I understand. Yes, so far as i know AH was the only major publlisher who issued maps on stiff cardboard backing. I don't think I said anything about SPI being inferior - they were different, I bought many of their releases, still have a few, of which a couple have (unmounted maps ...

<t>Les - "Avalon Hill really to me was more about games on map boards than it was about anything else." Not sure of the reference here. Most wargames ARE played on mapboards - there were a few which used an abstract "track" kind of system, but not many. Are you saying AH wasn't really about wargames ...

<t>You guys are youngsters. We were having Sunday dinner at 1 PM EST on December 7, 1941. I was 7-1/2 years of age. The phone rang, it was a neighbor asking if we had our radio on. No, we didn't. Turn it on, the caller said, the Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor.<br/>

I know what would have happened to me if I had followed Bernie's regimen: Strong as an ox, dead at age 35.

Am into long distance sitting, per Mike Royko. Horray for doing nothing, as often as I like.

<t>Something to remember here: Bazooka AP was improved streadily throughout WW2, as our one-time ordnance professional verified. By late 1944, into 1945 the average M9 round would have been much better than the early models. How much is difficult to say, a lot of it depends upon the same old factor ...

<t>Anticipating a little, thought I would post this Memorial Day tribute now, when I was thinking of it. John McCrae was serving with the BEF in France during WW1; he wrote this poem in a matter of minutes. The London Times refused to print it initially, believing it was too depressing. <br/>
