<t>On the point noted by Bonzo, hull damage and turret damage, what are the systems that have been affected when a number of stars are shown? Can the same ones be affected twice? For example, if a vehicle suffers three stars of turret damage does that mean (possibly) the main armament, coax and ...

Overall the robustness of pillboxes is probably about right - from the front and sides. But how about from the rear? What about some kind of experience check that a pillbox surrenders if infantry, particularly enginneers are behind it?

<t>I think that bailed out crews are too prepared to fight. There are only three or four of them with pistols and perhaps an SMG, not trained to fight on foot, and they open up on a 12 man infantry squad. From my readings they usually hide in a ditch until they can withdraw. I end up shooting them ...

<t>On the subject of melting barrels, the British Light Support Weapon (basically heavier barrel version of the British SA-80) has been modified as a result of experience in the Persian Gulf War. They found that with the bipod being fixed directly to the barrel as the barrel got hot it started to ...

Looking back at rexmonday's reply just now I realise I've been a 'spoiler' saying about the pincer. Sorry - lesson learned.

<t>This is what gaming is about! Playing such carefully crafted scenarios is a joy. In St Mere Eglise I easily destroyed the german light vehicle attack in the centre and the northern Pz IV platoon and was thinking yeah looking good. Then the pincer of the Stugs in the north and the Panthers in the ...

<t>I must say that reaper2100 has a very good point with the extra suppression arising from flank and especially rear fire. At the moment you are not really rewarded for achieving this, but as Paul V says the data structure isn't there. It would be nice for it to be on 'The List' though.<br/>

Thanks, I won't waste my time, I'll try to put them back in their original vehicle. Has anyone got any ideas on the area fire problem?

<t>I thought I had a brainwave and disabled the 2pdr to area fire with the coax in Slot 2 but that didn't work. I also tried changing the 2pdr and coax in their weapon slots in the Oob editor but it meant that all op fire was conducted with the coax in Slot 1, not much use against armour!<br/>

Area Fire with British AFVs

<t>I'm playing my first game with v4 and am finding a situation that I found with v2.3. That is that British AFVs can't area fire (Z key) with their coax. In the first few years of the war that was all they have to attack infantry so I'm finding this to be a bit of a problem, I'm having to use ...

But with a delayed action because the comms would have to go through the third party, and may even be by runner. It could be good, because if you lost a section you probably would send another to make contact with it whilst the Plt Commander got on with the main job.

<t>Monty was a bit of a fox as well. To help deceive Rommel into thinking that the attack was going in in the south of the Alamein position he had old oil drums laid in a line on their side heading south. From the air it looked like a fuel pipeline which was extended by a bit every day.<br/>

Suppression

<t>At what point does a unit become pinned, retreat and rout? It seems that I can never heavily suppress a unit and 'go in at the point of the bayonet', it always fires back with effective fire even when I have fired at it with A LOT of mgs. How about another category of suppression when a unit is ...

Where can I get ANY Version of SPWAW

<t>Hi Guys,<br/>
I've just discovered about SPWAW in the last few days - too late to get it from the listed sites. I read you discussing what sounds like a great game and I want to play it myself. Are there any sites anywhere that do the pre Ver 3? I've trawled the web and found the lite version on ...
