<t>You don't have to convince me a grand strategy game would be fun, but I think it's clear that WITP is not going to be that game. After all, some of the scenarios described don't include either a War in the Pacific or a Struggle against Japan!<br/>

A good grand strategy game would have to ...

<t>mdiehl--Well, I completely agree that most games give too big an economic bonus for conquering territory--they're trying to give an incentive to be aggressive and while I understand their reasons, they don't belong in a serious game like WITP. Territory gives resources, and that's about it (and ...

<t>I don't have a strong opinion on Palembang, but I am glad you were willing to make the change. As someone who's excited about WITP but nervous about Matrix's ability to produce bug-free products, your decision to fix all the bugs in PW (real or perceived)is gratifying and speaks well for the ...

Beginnings of an Economic Model (long post)

<t>This is really a follow up to my earlier thread on how to handle production, but since that thread was generating a good discussion of production in general I thought a new one would work better for discussion of details.<br/>
<br/>
This will focus on pure production. Modelling technological ...

<t>This would be ferociously difficult to do well, but I do like the idea. The U.S. made some major strategic decisions too in the 1920's and 30's that had a huge impact on the war. Imagine how things might have been different if Guam had been turned into a major fortress, or if the Phillipines had ...

When the parent unit grows back to full strength it takes in lots of new recruits, and the experience loss can be severe. I usually try very hard to avoid this happening because the high experience units are so much more effective.<br/>

<t>That's how I do it too...<br/>
<br/>
What you want to do is have most of your HQ's near the front, close enough to do special supply. Switch your units to the secondary HQ's, give them the special supply, then switch them back to the fighting HQ--the one with the good leader and the air support ...

<t>Back to the B-29's---<br/>
<br/>
Someone at some point decided that you shouldn't be able to build all B-29's. The same person probably decided the U.S. shouldn't build Sunderlands. I think these were bad calls and suggest you change them back. Just go back to the old version of the code.<br ...

"Historical" Production vs. Historical Choices

<t>Consider the following:<br/>
<br/>
In mid '42 the Japanese decided to emphasize carrier production over battleships. As a result the Musashi became their last battleship, and the Shinano became a carrier. That's historical fact.<br/>
<br/>
But that decision was the result of two battles. Pearl ...

<t>A request:<br/>
<br/>
Can we go back to allowing the B-24 plants to be changed to B-29? If I want to standardize on the B-29, that ought to be my choice. I know it's not "historical" but no more so than not attacking the the right island at the right time. Besides, with the lower production it's ...

<t>Oh yes it is. My usual procedure is to pull all my air out and put it in HQ's near Kazan until all the fighters are upgraded. One more: a US Infantry division appeared in China, behind the Japanese lines. Sorry--can't remember the number, date, or location (not much use I know). With no supplies and below strength it was toast within a few weeks.

No Soviet Unit Picures?!!

<t>I just downloaded ver 2.1+. When I start a campaign as the Axis, all seems well. But when I start as the Soviets, there are no pop-up graphics showing the equipment in each unit when I move the cursor over it. I find these very useful and I am not going to be happy if they're gone.<br/>

<t>One thought: the CIWS system on modern US Navy ships may have been designed to shoot down incoming missiles, but I've been told it will engage shells too. I don't know how likely it is to hit and destroy a 16" shell but it certainly would annoy our anachronistic battleship if it did it ...

<t>I think I remember reading that the Arleigh Burke class (of which the Cole is a member) represented a minor change in design philosophy for the Navy.
