RE: Considering Ops Losses

The most dangerous phases of flight are takeoff and landing. Too low to bail out, and when you auger in a high performance airplane, you will most likely be moving along at a pretty good clip. Best you can hope for is an extended stay at the base hospital.

RE: "ThePerfect Marine"

I knew I had seen something on the origins of "Gyrene", but couldn't remember where. I found an entry in one of my old TBS books: "a term of uncertain origins applied to the Royal Marines as early as 1894, and to US Marines by about 1911."

<t> I am really glad to see the range issue being tackled as it is inconsistant at best in stock and CHS. I just wanted to through in my two cents from the real world. Without exception every source I have lists aircraft range in a measure of only distance. In addition, if you look in several ...

RE: First pass durability equation

<t> I agree with what you are trying to do here on principle, but us not knowing exactly what durability means in the code may have you proceeding on some faulty assumptions. I don't think you can assume that size alone should be the determining factor in durability. In an extreme example the WWI ...

RE: Strange climb rates?

<t> I'm at work, so at the moment I don't have access to any references, but there are two ways in which an aircraft's sustained climb performance are generally measured; best rate of climb and best angle of climb. There is a given speed you fly for each to get the desire performance. Most aircraft ...

RE: One reason .30 (and .50) MGs are too effective

<t> I agree range should be limited on wing mounted aircraft MGs to whatever distance these weapons are rigged to converge. As for ground based AAMG, the venerable M2 .50 cal has a tracer burnout of around 1800m, and as a result would have some effectiveness out to that distance. I would suggest ...

RE: Requests For Artwork.

I was curious so I started digging through what references I have and found in Whitley's that Lamotte-Piquett spent a period in dock in Osaka Japan in September 1941. It seems unlikely that it would participate on the allied side.

Playing the Japanese late war I never have enough destroyers/escorts. After US torpedoes become effective in 43 there is a high price to pay.

I have had fairly good luck targeting manpower at night at 6000' untill I get bases close enough to provide escort for day raids. Fairly low B-29 losses and big fires.

Jap Zero unit based on allied base

I am playing scenario 12, v1.4 as the allies, and have had the F1/252nd Daitai show up on the ramp at Kwajalien parked next to my Corsairs! I have a save, how and where do I send it?
