Orders This Phase Resets to Zero ...

<t> when loading a savegame saved halfway through an orders phase (playing against the AI, anyway).<br/>
<br/>
Noticed when I reloaded a partly completed orders phase saved when the wife called me for dinner. I had issued three "Hold" orders ("Orders this phase: 3 of 11") before saving. On reload ...

Game Save During Setup?

Can't seem to do it.

Reload takes you straight to 1st orders phase.

Bit of an oversight?

Purchase Point Ratios

<t> When generating random games for PBM, what are the preferred purchase point ratios for, for example, attack/defend battles?<br/>
<br/>
IIRC Steel Panthers was something like 2:1 for attacking and 2.5:1 for attacking an enemy allowed to purchase field defences. Are there any similar suggested ...

RE: Multiple Installations

Rick,

Thanks for replying. It was probably the registry thing that was confusing me. I'll take another crack at it.

Where does one get this JSGME thing? The link to the supposed homepage is 404-not found.

Thanks,

Andy

Multiple Installations

Is it possible to install the game more than once on the same computer?

I'm trying to set up a vanilla install for PBM and a second one for mods. Is there a recommended way to do this?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

RE: Is it Possible To ...

<t> How hard would it be to extract the replay component from a game's savegame or PBM files and string them together as an extended playback that can still be viewed from any position?<br/>
<br/>
Just wondering. I realise it's not something there'd be much demand for.<br/>

RE: Is it Possible To ...

OK, thanks Rick. I might give it a go. Probably need to create a second install for this kind of messing around and for modding.

Mobius, I'm familiar with Fraps. Good vids. Thanks.

Is it Possible To ...

<t> review playback from earlier turns in a PBM game or turns in a PBM game that has finished. Primarily interested in showing to third parties.<br/>

Also, is it possible to string together the playback from several turns into some sort of continuous video replay.<br/>

Thanks,<br ...

Rick,

Finally got round to using this and it seems to be working fine. Thanks for fixing it.

<t> Sorry, I'm a bit slow. Tell me if I've got this right.<br/>
<br/>
The manual lists the firepower modifiers for buildings as:<br/>

Tgt Stationary: ................................. -2,<br/>
Tgt Shift Move (Defend Move?): ....... -2,<br/>
Tgt Half Move (Engage Move?): ....... -1,<br ...

Speaking of Buildings ...

The interface suggests there are "Light" and "Heavy" buildings but the manual only lists "Buildings" in its accuracy and firepower tables.

Are light and heavy buildings differentiated in the combat routines and, if so, how?

Thanks again,

RE: About SOP

Do any other tactical computer games feature morale checks BEFORE a unit gets shot at (a good thing, IMO)?

I know that, in CM, units sometimes plot there own moves but I can't remember if that happens only after they've taken fire.

RE: CM and PCO

<t> I reckon there's no doubt that CMx2 is a more detailed, better looking sim. On the other hand, I find PC: O easier to play. I would argue that PC: O's lack of sophistication in some areas does not affect the type and quality of the tactical decisions that both games ask me to make.<br/>
