Is it Possible To ...

Post by Andy Brown »

review playback from earlier turns in a PBM game or turns in a PBM game that has finished. Primarily interested in showing to third parties.

Also, is it possible to string together the playback from several turns into some sort of continuous video replay.

Thanks,

Andy

That certainly is possible using Fraps. Have you seen my youtube vids?

If you have all of the turns, I believe you can move all of them out of your PBM folder, then one at a time sequentially move them back. It isn't a simple process. And you have to be sure not to intermingle NEW turns with the existing one. ie, after you watch the turn replay, you have to ignore the subsequent phase, and copy the original next turns, you don't want the game to actually simulate any turns as you might get differnt results then. Not a very easy way to do what you want.

Thanks

OK, thanks Rick. I might give it a go. Probably need to create a second install for this kind of messing around and for modding.

Mobius, I'm familiar with Fraps. Good vids. Thanks.

I'd settle for a two phase, i.e. complete turn replay.

How hard would it be to extract the replay component from a game's savegame or PBM files and string them together as an extended playback that can still be viewed from any position?

Just wondering. I realise it's not something there'd be much demand for.

Cheers,

Andy

I don't know, it doesn't sound like it would be easy to do, but it would be interesting.

thanks
