CC on German challenge

<t>Greetings German players Are any of you up to a CC on battle versus my glorious Soviets? How about a 6k to 4k German advance on a large map with truetroop on/rarity on, all default settings 0 air each, no prelaid mines or fortifications and a 4 battery arty limit excluding attached arty for ...

Mines

<t>I have polled the Priests of the Temple of Syrinx and they all agree that prelaid mines should not be used in a meeting engagement. This is a fluid battle where both sides are advancing. Mines layed DURING an engagement would be acceptable. Mines should primarily used in Assault/Defences But of ...

<t>Perhaps just changing the "fast response arty" classification should be enough. Messing with the American crews might cause more problems than its worth. After all, quick reponse arty was a strength for the U.S. Since there doesn't seem to be Super Shermans in Head-2-Head (thank you Leo) slowing ...

Chances are they took the name from the book, but I have no way of knowing. It was a very long time ago, probably came out in the 70's. I will take your recommendation and read the book.

Guns of August

The best WWI game I ever played was Avalon Hill's Guns of August, it covered the entire war but it was a board game. The westen front bogged down fairly soon but there was room for movement in Russian and down in Serbia. This Trench sounds like it, I will give it a look.

Using the rarity to affect the point cost sounds reasonable enough. At least its a move in the right direction without upturning the apple cart.

<t>I thoroughly enjoy H2H. It has a better sound and feel to it and the OOBs are very good. I would encourage all SPWAW players to download it. I have both v 7.1 and H2H installed but would be happy to play H2h exclusively if there were more players out there. Until then I have to play both to feed ...

<t>I totally agree with your point about the Shermans, some 49,000 were produced of all the types. But I also think they are somewhat overrated in this game, weren't they considered death traps by many? in regular SPWAW they can slug it out with most of the good German tanks. I haven't really faced ...

<t>I guess giving the Soviets more points could solve this problem, but I have yet to find the German player who would accept this. Its hard enough to talk them into an 8k to 4k assault, which in my opinion is still not enough for a realistic Soviet attack. The Germans would have won the war if they ...

production numbers

<t>I don't know what can be done, but if you look at production numbers of Soviet to German tanks there is a great injustice in tank costs. 35,120 T-34/76's were produced from 40-45<br/>
18,330 T-34/85's from late 43-45<br/>
compared to<br/>
9,537 Stug III's <br/>
6,000 Panthers<br/>
7,000 ...

So far so good

<t>I thought I posted this earlier but I guess not.<br/>
Currently have a game of H2H going right now. Me as the Germans against a Soviet opponent. We started before I read these posts so we turned from 130% to 100%. Everything seems fine (although no vierlings in this battle). I have to say the ...

Jedi Mind-trick

I have heard stories about US GI's using Jedi mind-tricks to make the Germans think the jeeps they are seeing are actually Shermans. and also bicycling Volksgrenadiers to appear to be flame-thrower toting Engineers.

clarification

<t>Maybe I misspoke when I called the renaming of units a bug. But the game is set up to show what is doing the shooting. Now maybe I don't agree that the enemy should see what is doing the shooting as far as unit type, but thats the way it is and I guess we have to live with it. Changing the names ...

good feature

<t>I for one am glad for this feature. If not, sooo many people would be changing oobs and creating super-units. besides the game is good enough with the official OOB's. they have done research and while it may not be perfect, I trust their judgement more than some layman who just read a book and ...

<r>I guess I didn't realize there were people who only wanna play the AI. A human opponent can be sooo unpredictable. After playing head to head I can't play the AI anymore. I guess I'm a competition junkie. But if you German players wanna fight my glorious Soviets, PBEM. with everything on ...

glad you told me

It was enlightening but I won't be playing Cpt. Pixel. I prefer to fight it out honestly, not using game bugs to cheat and then use semantics and K-street legalese to justify it.

CC on is the real thing

<t>Playing with CC on is for us crusty veterans. maybe when you get older you can play with the big boys. there may be flaws but its better than all-knowing squads out of contact with everyone cuz the platoon leader is 2 kliks away. CC on is just a more realistic type of fight where you have to ...

<t>CC on solves a lot of the problems in this game. I don't mind playing with no restrictions as long as CC is on. And shame on you people who purchase Coastal Guns in battles where no shoreline or even meeting engagements. 10inch Naval guns mounted on 10 metre hills is not funny. sick puppies you ...
