Thanks for your advice, guys. I adjusted the brightness and gamma settings on the Dell, and SPWaW now looks much better. There are several advantages with this system--one is that I can now have my Generals' Edition installed in its entirety ...

RE: vid998.smk

I don't have a good answer for that one. I always presumed the OS wasn't happy with the intro, linked directly to mech.exe and didn't bother thinking about it.

<r> For a WWII-era warship, those are some very clean hull and superstructure lines. Wow, too bad the smoke obscures the middle deck, it'd be nice to see it to. Even the #3 (?) turret looks "designed".<br/>

RE: Interesting visit to the shipyard

<t> Interesting. The Swedish industries got much of their submarine knowledge the other way around: A sunken brand-new type XXI German sub was salvaged just off the west coast. The Allies demanded it to be handed to them, and Sweden complied....after dissasembling and documenting the entire thing ...

Seeing the competition from Asia, I'm surprised they've managed to run the shipyard for so long as it is. Ours disappeared years and years ago, Karlskrona is the only one left and they build navy vessels only. It actually is engines I connect Wärtsilä ...

<t> Yeah, economy is ofcourse the driving factor in design. The logistics process must also be pretty impressive, getting everything to the right place at the right time. <br/>

RE: Interesting visit to the shipyard

<t> Sounds cool. I like the QM2 if nothing else because she, unlike the caribbean cruisers, were designed hull first and everything else had to be fit into it. A sort of "outside-in" approach rather than the more popular "inside-out". That makes here completely sea worthy while the box-like ...

RE: Sweden and Apache helicopters?

<t> Interesting. There "may" be some testings going on, but I doubt it. The way our defense funding is going, there's no place whatsoever for attack helicopters. I think they did test the Apache and Tiger some years ago but cut short when it was clear no attack heli purchases were to be. Heck, they ...

It is a prototype with the Youngman circular segmented air brake for night-fighter versions. Don't know if it ever came to use, even though the Mossie excelled in night operations.

Don't forget the new WWII memorial either. But I guess that's right under your nose so you can't miss it.

I don't think they use anything more advanced than RPGs. Probably more AT mine weapons, looted or improvised. An RPG can, with a lucky hit, set fire to an APC though.

Just read that the much debated Strykers are doing great down there. Apparently, troopers love them.

I second that. At least in released games/beta games sections. It's confusing right now.
