The Scariest Weapons Sounds

Post by KG Erwin »

So far, I've picked two of the most terrifying sounds in the game--(3)--this is the generic sound for a rocket barrage, the "Screeming Meemies". Yikes! (300)--this one makes me cringe--this is the LOUD flamethrower. It is simply horrifying. I love it when I have these in my arsenal, but, Jeez, it's the worst thing I can possibly imagine doing to another human being. Flamethrower operators must have had some major-league cojones to perform that job.

You guys have any others that sound particularly scary? There's another one for me--Japanese sound 719--the banzai charge--that always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

I agree with the flame thrower...alot.... and the other that sends my enemy running behind a hill is a 150mm or higher direct fire type shot...
take care,

The first time I ever heard the "mine explosion" sound, I almost jumped out of my chair! That one will really stun you the first time around. You never quite get used to it.

Probably the next one is that shouting, screaming melee sound that comes from a bayonet attack. I like that one. It means some hard close in fighting.

By the way, Huffy, I got your messages and tried to write you but evidently your e-mail address has changed. My mail was returned. I you have a new e-mail address, send it to me.

Thanks a lot for checking on me. I'm doing okay.

Bill, I know you love those infernal mines. Yeah, they are scary, especially when you place them. "Hey, Biff, I found a steaming pot of rice...let me step over here and...." < BOOOM!> [X(]

Jess, didn't Losqualo or Rockin Harry post some new Russian weapons sounds at the Depot? They are an improvement over the ones in-game.

Since things are slow here, I thought I'd revisit this old thread. One of SPWaW's strongest attributes is the variety of sound FX that are offered. At latest count, I have 728 sound files in my SND folder--others may have more. I also dumped many of the snd files from Panzer Leo's H2H into this folder, too. He added some good ones for German arty.

Just for fun, I loaded the entire file into my WMP, and played through some of them--there are some great snd files that I've not familiar with.

So, if you're looking for something to do, and aren't afraid of waking up the family or the neighbors, just cycle through these --you'll find some surprises.

One that startles me (besides mines!) is this 40mm AA sound I ran across and used in SPWAW on my old computer: http://www.streamload.com/jimnsb/SPWAW/40mm.wav

(sorry, I don't recall the associated sound-file numbers needed to plug this into SPWAW)

Wow, Jim, that's a good one. In the snd files, the 40mm AA is 918.
