RE: ..rise and fall of the 3rd Reich..Shirer..

<r> <br/>
Greetings.<br/>
<br/>
Koniev has it right on two points: the timid response by France and Great Britain to the Rhineland escapade, etc. and Hitler's "bluffing," though I'd emphasize it as his instinctive reliance on his own intuitions about the people and politics in the 30s. <br ...

Question about TF "disband"

I can disband a TF in a friendly port 3+. It appears I can disband when the TF is in the port hex and docked or "at sea" in the port hex. Is there any difference or advantage to docking before disbanding? Do both actions have the same result? Am I missing something? TNX

"Compressed Folders Error"

<t> Greetings, All.<br/>
<br/>
I would appreciate advice/help. I have purchased Guns of August. I have downloaded and installed again via purchased CD. The game seems to run fine. I cannot, however, successfully download/use the 1.1 patch.<br/>

I have tried several times, both via my own ...

RE: Just wondering....Managers?

<t> <br/>
All of the above sounds great, and I would be a happy recipient of same... for my purposes, since I am playing a fictional league over many seasons, with imaginary players generated randomly and edited by me to suit my preferences of name, skills, region, etc., I would be happy if I just ...

Just wondering....Managers?

<t> I am using PureSim to play a fictional league and am very happy overall with the game and the games (see the "what are you palying?" thread) .... but I have a question: why no provision for named managers? Have I missed it? Seems it would be nice to be able to name, hire/fire/ and track managers ...

Question "Here and Now"

<t> This is a new one on me.. the message says "TF may not unload here and now." <br/>
<br/>
The scene is Port Moresby, Feb. 42. I had six IJN TFs on various missions landing the 2nd Div. and 5th Engineer Rgt at P.M. It would fall on the subsequent turn. I got the above message. It did not specify ...

RE: Effect of Naval Bombardment Hits?

<t> Yah, that "guessing" you mentioned is exactly why I started this thread. When I am softening up an enemy base for whatever comes next, I want to have a clearer idea of when enough is enough. As the opposing commander, I don't expect a TO&E and supply report from the bad guys, but I would like a ...

RE: Effect of Naval Bombardment Hits?

<t> Thanks for the info...<br/>
<br/>
So, if I understand the responses, it's all a percentage game and the best estimate is shown when I "hover" the cursor over the target port and it gives me what I guess is a percentage, as in "port damage 46" means it is about half destroyed. And that refers ...

Effect of Naval Bombardment Hits?

<t> Greetings, all.<br/>
<br/>
I think I knew this once, but can't remember and can't find it in the manual or via search... is there a specific numerical or quantitative value associated with Airbase, Airbase Supply, Port, or Port Supply Hits? Is it a fixed percentage of what's there? Is it ...

RE: Bombing Midway from French Frigate

Yah, based on Terminus' comment above re: "gaminess," for PBEMers, looks like this issue is another candidate for a house rule.... e.g. make a list of similar oceanic postage stamps and place our own restrictions... workarounds are part of the WITP currency...

<r> Sooo... even with the new "change upgrade path" capabilities, do I understand that an air unit like the transports mentioned above would never <I><s></s>enter <e></e></I> the game at all? It would just languish in "no plane" land and nothing could be done with it?<br/>

RE: Question on Ki-84 Production

<r> Thank you, all, for the feedback... my tendency is to over-manage, even in this monster... there does seem to be consensus, here and in general, that airplane shortage is not the major long-range Japanese problem, so maybe I will just let things be with Ki-84... as noted, there is a lot of other ...

Question on Ki-84 Production

<t> Just installed 1.6 and am ready to begin a game in which I really try to "manage" Japanese production. Looking over the aircraft factories the value at Gumma for Ki-84 Frank r&d (think it's 320) really stands out above all others.<br/>

If I understand correctly, this seems to represent a ...

RE: Zones of Control

<t> As Sardauker said, there does seem to be (sometimes) a distinction among clicking on the hex, the base, or even the enemy unit for some commands... I've wondered about this on several occasions, even asked about it, I think, in another thread and didn't get an answer... is this covered somewhere ...

Question on Targeting LCUs vs. Base Hexes

<t> Could someone point me to an explanation in the manual or otherwise explain:<br/>
<br/>
Why is it that sometimes when I give march orders to ground forces I can (apparently) point to and target a specific enemy LCU in a hex:<br/>

Death of Repulse (Why I bought WitP!)

<r> At the risk of cheerleading: <br/>
