Re: Taming the Tiger or Slaying the Bear......loki100 (Axis) vs Speedy (SU)

Nope not a sausage. Didn't notice any significant effects of the railyard bombing in terms of freight movement or supply transfer. Note I believe Roger only started doing this when I was using SP4 so not sure if the super powers of the Glorious Soviet Union Logistics Company outweigh any affect it ...

Re: Taming the Tiger or Slaying the Bear......loki100 (Axis) vs Speedy (SU)

Morning All,

So where to begin. As Roger mentioned I decided to surrender after the last turn. The reasons for this are several and many are linked. I'll provide a bit of self analysis of how I think the game went and then some overall thoughts on WITE2.

Firstly, thank you very much Roger for ...

Re: To Saratov! (And back?): A beginner AAR (Stamb vs Lovenought)

The last part is untrue of our game. Yes the frontline didn't vary a lot but, ironically, Loki's 1942 performance was very successful at wearing me down me without any territorial gain. I suffered over 2.3M casualties (IIRC) in 1942 alone, Loki's lines didn't move much (small pockets of a few units ...

Re: Taming the Tiger or Slaying the Bear......loki100 (Axis) vs Speedy (SU)

Well....figured I'd pop in and write a short update my side. Especially since the turn I've just sent back to Loki (the one after his report above) was one of my most fun in planning and running for a while. I suspect it will also lead to a massive series of Tank Battle in response by Loki so wanted ...

Re: Taming the Tiger or Slaying the Bear......loki100 (Axis) vs Speedy (SU)

As always fascinating analysis by my opponent.

Naturally I won't be sharing my plans for the year or providing a map of what HQ's are where.

I can share a few thoughts though. Firstly it'll be no surprise to Loki that all of my Tank/Mech Corps are in the Southern half of the map or in the SR. Even ...

Re: Taming the Tiger or Slaying the Bear......loki100 (Axis) vs Speedy (SU)

Before this I was using a mixture of 1,2 and 3....3 near Moscow....2 on main other Fronts and 1 in outliers.....rarely achieved above a 75% supply intake (vs need) with this system.

Re: Taming the Tiger or Slaying the Bear......loki100 (Axis) vs Speedy (SU)

So a little addendum to Loki's last report following my turn after this,,,,I'd been planning a small operation in the South through Kherson (hate saying this with what's going on IRL....genuinely) over the past few weeks.....to help answer some previous questions re: trucks and supply - it really ...

Re: Taming the Tiger or Slaying the Bear......loki100 (Axis) vs Speedy (SU)

Thanks to Loki for the regular posts and updates. They are fantastic (as always). As mentioned before with the updates being 1 week behind where we are I really can't comment or show much since it would give too much important info away. If there's any specific questions that readers have let me ...

Re: RE: T127 - counter-attacking can be fun

ORIGINAL: Beethoven1

ORIGINAL: loki100

I realise there is a lot of nonsense going around about Soviet logistics, well when they return to the offensive they have all the problems the axis had in 1941 and, just for the fun of it, an army of 6.5m+ compared to one of around 3.4m to supply ...

RE: 42 Offensive N or S?

<t> Based on what Loki did to me in our 42 time period I’d either stay put, slowly gobbling up 2-5 units every turn or 3 OR only go for broke if an auto victory is in sight. If you go for the middle ground you’ll likely end up like history - exposed further away from your supply sources and with a ...

RE: T124 - T125, guess we have to wait?

<t> Yup I think we’ve seen enough Urban battles to know it’s not ‘quite right’….good thing is by Loki taking it back I can wreck some more Axis now[:'(]<br/>
<br/>
P.s Loki when I first re-took it the railyard and manpower were at 100 damage. Not sure how much more damage you could cause[:'(]<br ...

RE: T124 - T125, guess we have to wait?

<r> D-Town fell for a +1VP bonus for the Good Guys.<br/>
<br/>
I'd kept a very strong force off the frontlines to conduct the Main attack. The initial attack (top battle) was there to weaken the enemy before the main attack moved up and recaptured the glorious place. Huzzah:<br/>

RE: T124 - T125, guess we have to wait?

<r> Well Loki was partially correct in the latest turn....it was a mixture of snow and rain but the only place where Heavy Rain fell on his lines rather than mine was between Konotop and Bryansk and an area I didn't have attack plans in for this week.<br/>
<br/>
Further south the fun continues. It ...

RE: T123 - wallowing in the mud

<r> FWIW let's do some analysis of my main CU's - the Corps....probably less instructive compared to the Axis since these formation can go from hero to zero in a single week but:<br/>

Rifle Corps - I've 131 of these with an average of 20,231 men and 355 guns per Corps. Full TOE would mean 28 ...

<r> @Jubjub - Has full relevance before as it does now as it was sorted that way then without HQ's...89 units now. Showing all units as I don't care if Loki sees them now:<br/>
