Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))

That just deepens the mystery for me - the Japanese came in at 22-23 K and 4 minutes warning. Your fighters were patrolling at 5-6 K and would take 30-45 minutes to reach the Zeros. The weather was severe storms. So the Japanese could not detect the allied fighters and just hung around like LRCAP u...

Re: Rising Sun, Falling Skies: BTSL Bigred vs John 3rd

Talked with Paul on the phone and we discussed WINTER Weather in the Aleutians. Thinking on it reminded me of one of those old Bantam Military Histories--"The Thousand Mile War." Anyone remember that one? Lordy, I grew up reading those books and have very fond memories of them. Anyone rem...

And what of the rest of their fleet? Cruisers? Destroyers? And more importantly, the remaining carriers?
And what is the VP count?

Let's hope she's deep enough to keep her safe from the salvage pirates. She is, after all, a war grave.

Therefore we need to be able to grind the Japanese economy into dust. I will not be able to cut off Honshu from ressources completely - as many can travel via land since China is completely taken. This leaves actually making it impossible for the Japanese to produce - which in turn means bombing, b...

IIRC Kitakami is one of the pair of IJN "torpedo cruisers", with few guns but bristling with Long Lance tubes. Devonshire is a lucky ship to have closed to 1,000 yards, and dodged all the torpedoes!

His damn subs are driving me insane. So far they have sunk a CV (Shokaku), a BB (magazine hit) and now another CL.

Plenty of counter measures are being employed but Lowpe really knows his stuff.
Ironic since the Kitakami is a torpedo cruiser. ;)

A fair question, but that ship has sailed. "Amos & Andy", FDR's fireside chats, etc. are already 80 - 90 light-years out there.

I like a hybrid system: having an SSD C: drive for system and frequently used apps, and a conventional disk drive for downloads, media files, massive apps, etc. (I've been extensively modifying or building my own PCs for a couple of decades.) I get excellent boot times, and the read speeds on disk d...

Used a mass 4E bombing run on the 1st Tank Division...basically a one off to keep Japan flying LRCAP over these tanks. Destroyed several vehicles...Don't really like using the 4Es in a ground attack role, prefer to use them carrying supplies or in strategic warfare. I feel your dilemma -- but it's ...

Re: A Moral Question about WW2

Very few conquerors are willing to stop once they really get rolling. Only death or capture brings their seizing of territory to an end: think of Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun, Timur AKA Tamerlane, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, etc. Hitler wasn't satisfied with Poland or even with France once he had...
