Problem Installing 2.02 in Windows 10

<t> I just installed Windows 10 on my desktop, after which JTCS would open but would not run or allow an update. I was getting Error Code 486. So, I uninstalled it and re-installed it from the disk. At that point, version 1.1 appeared to operate properly. I then updated to 2.02. After that, the main ...

RE: Has anyoneelse noticed!?

In an item earlier in this thread, Alby referred to 8.41. But I only see a download for 8.4 available in the Matrix Members area. Is 8.41 the one we're all waiting for, or is it a genuine patch currently available somewhere else?

RE: help! annoying "black outs"!

<t> I have a similar problem. The screen goes black and if I move the cursor around, it's like an inverse eraser. It begins to "repaint" the screen. If I sit and wait a minute or two, things come back on their own. This only began to happen after I installed a new version of Norton Anti-virus. I ...

Glad to hear your enthusiasm for 8.5. What does it do with regard to spotting? 8.4 feels like it's virtually impossible to spot enemy infantry until you're in the adjacent hex and they've opened fire on you, and, usually, caused heavy casualties. I don't want it to be ...

Duskdeep ... Far, far from boring. Both enlightening and enjoyable. Thank you. Postings such as yours are another reason why this forum is so enjoyable.

Andrew ... don't overreact to the "opinions" of one person. In the course of this thread you got some reasoned, reasonable and sympathetic reactions. Remember that and don't despair at the "ravin's" of one person.

RE: Why the Fascination?

<t> The responses to Wild Bill's original question have tended to fall into two categories ... (1) "Stuff, and (2) intangibles, mystique, the underdog, etc. I can understand the allure of the "stuff", but I wonder if perhaps, even for those that think that stuff is the attraction, the real ...

<t> Re: Pain meds and response time ... That's one good thing about SP:WaW ... response time is not often an issue. That's why guys like us are playing it instead of Doom and such like. As for reaction time vis a vis Warrrior's suggestion ... how much it counts depends upon the age of the target ...

<r> And one more vote of thanks. You have indeed done an outstanding job under very difficult circumstances. After all the flak you've taken while trying to do the best you could to support the interests of both the "community" <I><s></s>and<e></e></I> Matrix Games, I suspect it will be very ...

RE: What SPWaW Is, and What it Isn't:your thoughts wanted

<t> This thread has caused me to take a few minutes to consider why, after several years, SP:WaW remains such a source of pleasure and fun. For all its limitations and drawbacks (and there are such), it is still the WWII wargame that combines an enormous amount of detail with a relatively ...

RE: True Update Question

Hah! I just found the true update files in my 8.0 download. Does anybody know if they'll work if you just copy them over into the 8.2 folder?

If so, Schee0, I'd be happy to send you copies of my files if you still don't have them.

RE: True Update Question

Hmmmm, indeed! I, too, used the GamersHell to download 8.2 and there is no True Update file. So, it's not an isolated problem for a few individuals. It's a systematic thing. Second Schnee0's call for a way to download just that file.

Whoa! Working for US! ... not for money ... at 3:00 in the morning! That ought to put a stop to the whining and complaining! (But it probably won't,)

Thanks to all you chaps at Matrix, and the many, many volunteers who have done so much for this gaming community.
