<t>I just received the game today!!! The reason I even considered it is because I've been playing Gary Grigsby's War in Russia, which is really good. One drawback is it's not simultaneous, so it's "you go, then I go". <br/>

<t>Thanks Ed. <br/>

Do I need to have control for the entire game, or just that turn? If for the entire game, then I'll need to handle all aspects, such as tank improvements, factory switches, etc. Is that right? I've only recently gotten involved with production after starting to PBEM ...

Pools of equipment - How they work

<t>This is a question about equipment pools. I figure it falls somewhere under production. I found myself with over 2000 Lagg-3 fighters in my pool. But no fighter group using this plane. So I changed one of them I-2's or something with the Laggs. Next turn they were switched to Migs by the computer ...

Each headquarter has a "replace" option when you click on it. The default value is 50%, just like the game you mention. You can increase or decrease this in 5% increments. Once a unit attached to this headquarter drops below the value set, replacements, if available, are made.

CAP vs. Escort duty

<t>I have a more general question. It appears only one air group actually intercepts using CAP as opposed to multiple air groups when assigned to escort. Plus escort defends bombers on offense. So I find it better to just keep all fighters on escort duty. Since I haven't spent as much time testing ...

Moving Factories

<t>I'm adding this to this thread to minimize # of posts. What are your thoughts about moving factories as the soviets? I used to do this religiously. But since factories only retain a value of "1" once they're in the Urals, why bother? For instance, moving an artillery factory of "15" only results ...

<t>Yep, definitely new as this is my first PBEM game. It sounds like just do your best and see. I'm playing the Russian side and what I'm wanting to know is how much of the plot orders are being followed. If I were playing the Axis side, I'd be very confident all plots were made as ordered. I'll do ...

How to ...

<t>Thanks, the idea I had was to simply "tighten" the system so it wouldn't allow replaying. Like maybe having a sequence number to keep track of this. But agreed, why bother playing if one needs to resort to this.<br/>

I agree

<t>My wife thinks I'm a little too addicted to this stuff as well. My first game was War at Sea by AH. I was just a kid. I bought some of the other board games and loved them. Later on as an adult I saw AH Third Reich on computer. I thought it was awesome. Then I saw War in Russa and others on the ...

I agree. If this were a simultaneous move game it probably wouldn't be a problem. I'm thinking of something like AH Stalingrad, etc. But this game is really a great game. I'd say have both agree to only play through once. Thanks for letting me know.

I should have stated earlier. I'm referring to when someone plays in the PBEM. Then someone could run the scenario a couple of times to "see" (probe?) what the best course of action would be. Thanks

PBEM Questions

I have only played the AI for WAR IN RUSSIA. It looks like someone could run a file a few times to see what results would be best. Am I being too cynical? I know better to trust one's competitor, but just mentioning in case a follow-up version to 3.2 could plug this loophole. Thanks

PBEM

<r>I'm interested in trying this. I've only taken on the AI, so I'm not sure about my skill level, needless to say. I just started using the v3.2 and would prefer to continue with this. Why turn back? I'm impartial to either side, so take your pick! I think I could swing 3 to 7 "plays" a week. <E>:D ...
