RE: June Update?

<t> I agree with most that it has been a long wait and I am also eager to see some results. However not many games are lauched during summer and the general public is not very alert. I don't think there is much sense in releasing until fall or christmas. I just hope it will happen this year. Matrix ...

There are still questions open and Bart can probably address most ...

Player constallations

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered sometime before:
Will it be possible to have more than one human player on each computer? Or are we required to have one computer (= one game) per player.

Will there be a hot seat mode, if 6 friends come over?

TCP/IP

TCP/IP will likely be done, though again, not for the initial release. Demand for this seems to have been low for this type of game, so this will likely be added in a patch when demand, well, demands it.<br/>

Winter movement

<t>If it does not delay the game I say put winter land movement in.<br/>
However it was not part of the original game, so I guess it should be an option.<br/>
It should however only apply to the arctic region and only on land, if you ask me. It will also give Russia a safer position and there may be ...

To Treasure

<t>I think we all realise that the graphics are not nearly final yet, but MG have presented us with screenshots with one possibility and I for one only want to tell the direction I think they should go.<br/>
But still, its not about the single counter shape or appearance, more the complete feel ...

<t>Hello David,<br/>
<br/>
I agree that the discussions have spun somewhat out of control. I guess it is just that a lot of people are very passionate about EiA.<br/>
I fully support your idea of making the gameplay like the original where possible and modify only where necesary.<br/>

<t>It is a sad fact that if possible some people will cheat to get ahead even in games that are only played for fun.<br/>
Yes I also hope some anti-cheat system can be in the game.<br/>
Take a game like Counter-strike. Some people have actually made the effort to write a cheat to get kill-shots ...

I am also getting the feeling that we have to wait so time yet.
The term "Summer" is wonderfully dubious. A month ot even a target date would be great.
This also make me ask: Is the going to be an European distributor? And if so will release be the same as for US.

Setups

<t>Hi,<br/>
<br/>
It makes sence to me to use setup as a tactical trigger in the AI.<br/>
As mentioned it should be done with care. The multiple AI setup depending on Grand Strategy sound good.<br/>
However make sure you don't create a snowball effect. With the case of Post Eqypt. The turk has this ...

<t>I don't know what the Austrian insurection corps/force was like in reallity, but in game life it is a corps, although a weak one. As I recall it is made up of millitia forces. The main use as I see it is to 1: Stop and fight very small forces, like a turkish feudal corps with a few factors or 2 ...

invasion supply/transport

<t>What is your interpretation?<br/>
Is it possible to use a fleet counter to transport a corps for invasion and in the land phase place a depot on that fleet for invasion supply? I think not, but are the rules specific on the point? Isn't the sequence of play that depots are created and removed ...

Plunder etc.

<t>I think no matter what you decide it should be as an option.<br/>
I think as others that denying the enemy of income is reward enough.<br/>
However it could be and excellent way to raise tension, if you limit the plunder to a few strategically selected provinces of major powers. It could be that ...

Controlling major power provinces

If this is a question on what the rule is in EiA then NO.
The enemy power can only prevent the owner from getting money and manpower. He only gets money and manpower for himself when the province is ceded.
If you just ask what is possible, then the question is open.

Bidding

<t>As Reknoy writes bidding is sometimes abused by players that only want to win on the battlefield and ignore the VP's.<br/>
These players imo are really almost cheating as the objective of the game is to win on points. <br/>
My playing group has discussed various ways of countering that, but none ...

My two bits

<t>Bidding process:<br/>
I think you should consider this again. The way I see it the purpose of the bidding process is for weaker nations to have a chance of winning the game on points even if they are beat millitarily. If you remove the bidding it will be unlikely that anyone but France will win ...

Players vs AI

<t>Although I do not doubt that Matrix have capable programmers, I have never seen an AI that really could match human confrontation. There are simply to many levels of interaction between people for the computer to be able to match this behaviour. I is fine by me if Matrix makes a good AI for this ...

E-mails

<t>It may be wishful thinking, but I envisioned a system where submitted moves, combat etc. was handled inside the game and only "packages" was sent to host or next player. Official diplomacy could even be handled in game. The will of cause always be a lot of behind the scenes diplomacy, but that ...
