RE: 8MP - tank division to brigade

'XXX Division was re-organized as the XXX Brigade' would be even better.

RE: Panzer Division = SUPER MAN

<t> Back to tank losses in '41...Wanted to add my 2 cents as I've been trying the AI on Challenging which is about what Morvael was proposing morale wise. The Germans definitely lose a lot more tanks, by the start of mud the majority of my Panzer Div's were at 60-65% TOE. Partly rusty play on my ...

RE: Connect 4 multiplayer game needs you!!

Hi folks, I'm at the point where I can beat the AI, ready to try the real thing, let me know if you need a front commander still, I can play either side.

<t> As another new player, other than just being good at pushing counters around, the three biggest things that helped me improve have been:<br/>
<br/>
#1 Understand Logistics: getting fuel to your tanks is absolutely key. The Axis player needs to always keep his panzer corps in HQ range ...

RE: The Finns Again

I've been playing against the computer letting the AI handle most of the airforce, I don't think you have to micromanage it to succeed. Against a good human player things would be much different.

RE: Mud in '42 Advice?

Yes I see now from reading AARs that most experienced Axis players don't bother with it. Great duel with BrianG btw, fun AAR to read.

RE: Destroy all Trucks strategy?

Yes, I figured that much just from historical knowledge, the Red army is producing tanks at 3-4x our rate it looks like. Still, I rested/biovaced in cities my armour so '42 looking strong at least in tanks.

RE: Questions from Soviet player playing Axis

IMO starting as soon as Turn 1, the Axis should be doing a major Evaluation of his Officers and optimizing them continually in '41. And did anyone mention using AP's for HQBU? Key use it seems.

Destroy all Trucks strategy?

<t> As a new player, I looked over all the wonderful advice and AAR material here, but wanted to 'form my own strategy' for the most part and see how well I could execute it. It was decided not to try for Moscow in '41, but to focus on Leningrad and Crimea. Leningrad was of course the right choice ...

Mud in '42 Advice?

<t> Starting to get fairly deep in my 1st real GC attempt. I'm starting to get the hang of logistics and the task of managing the huge and somewhat overwhelmed Axis Command and Control. Anyhow, my '41 Operational goals were for the most part completed and GHC is in what I think good shape for a '42 ...

RE: WitE 2

Hmm, suddenly I'm reminded of 'Cross of Iron', when Coburn's character would rather return to the front than go home. (He clearly had some 'IP's'). Oh and if anyone here has not seen that movie, I HIGHLY recommend it.

RE: WitE 2

<t> The problem the Germans faced entering Barbarossa is they ALREADY were struggling for manpower to both run factories and man their armies. The economy was already 'overheating'. '41 just turned a big problem into a fatal one. Oh, and as for the contention that the Axis blew it by not driving ...

Ah I see now there will be an 'axis reserve box' Perhaps placing divisions there, or to garrison areas that are non-combat like France 41-43 would help reduce PTSD,

RE: WitE 2

<t> I think Morvael is onto something here...This sort of thing would be out of place in most wargames, but given the duration, nature, and intensity of what was, without a doubt, the most intense conflict in human history, it makes a lot of sense. In terms of the game design however, there should ...

RE: Just getting started, having a blast.

<t> Yeah thanks that was #1 on my goal, it looked great right off as I took Pskov turn 2, but Stavka (the AI) rushed a ton of help in response and it became a bit of a slog. I am up to Turn 14 and have my infantry surrounding the forts S of the city, need to try and clear the way up to the Lake ...
