First, this scenario was inspired by a write up for an upcoming board game I am very interested in called Less Than 60 Miles. You can read the play test that was the muse here: <LINK><s>[link]</s>https://warwithoutkia.blogspot.com/2018/11/less ...

I must say that last decade scenarios are full of surprises for me ("Whoa, a submarine with cruise missiles! And what the hell is that Air strike loadout?")

RE: Are air bombings ineffective?

<t> Strategic Bombing, not to be confused with Close Air Support, is not particularly effective in asymmetric conflicts and COIN operations.<br/>
<br/>
During Vietnam war, it was decently effective against NVA but totally useless against Vietcongs. Same in Afghanistan, where Soviets planes bombed ...

RE: Are Russians Probing for Weaknesses?

<t> Most of Russia actions, in every historical period, are made to impress the internal public opinion and to maintain an overall scenario of continuous struggle against hostile powers, à la 1984. <br/>
<br/>
Putin is no different from Stalin, Ivan the Terrible or Brezhnev in that.<br/>

RE: The Best Black and White Films of All Time

My personal ranking (definitely cold war biased):
1. Dr. Strangelove
2. Fail Safe
3. The Spy Who Came In From The Cold
4. Young Frankenstein
5. Seven Days in May

<t> I think that, as in most WW2 strategic / operational games, it's really difficult to replicate the initial German victories, let alone doing better; <br/>
you'd need a Soviet player / AI counterattacking immediately at turn 1 with almost every available division and not retreating at all.<br ...

<t> I am now playing with Russian too. The big error I made in the first attempts was thinking that losses were not a problem as they would have been replaced by reinforcements.<br/>

In order to survive, Russia must save as much troops as ...

RE: Motorized Division by foot

<t> I've some knowledge of Italian WWII army, and unfortunately our "motorized" divisions were, well, not motorized. Same thing applies to our "armored" division, who was an infantry division equipped with 100 light tanks and 40 "medium" ones with 45mm gun.<br/>
<br/>
So in my opinion the game is ...

This game engine MUST live on

You probably already know, but this game engine HAS to be used for other fronts / scenarios / time period; for example, I think it would work great in a Napoleonic setting.

Wonderful work.
