Re: Why no interception?

Time to target when raid was detected was 0 minutes. No opportunity to vector planes to intercept or launch planes ready on stand by. I am guessing the base and ships do not radar yet.

It sucks, but detection is not guaranteed. Radar improves the odds.

Re: Help, Please

The only adjustment you might make is to convert some armaments factories to Armour. Beyond that, it is the same as allies for squads, armaments, armour etc.
99% of the effort for Japanese production is for R&D aircraft, engines and building aircraft and engines. Tons of management to set it up and ...

What is your experience with Japanese Fighters in 1944+ in PBEM games?

My first ever PBEM game (Scenario 1) has reached July 1944 and so I have had some experience with Ki-84r Frank's and N1K1 George (I messed up production so no later version of George until their historical dates).

What has surprised me is the effectiveness of the N1K1 George in air to air combat ...

Re: [Just a discussion] A game that doesn't run on modern PCs shouldn't cost 80eur?

The short answer to your statement "A game that doesn't run on modern PCs shouldn't cost 80eur?" is I agree, but this is not your typical game purchase.

The longer answer is, despite the barriers to easily start playing with switches and patches to install, it is still a bargain at 80EUR if this ...

Kamikaze option greyed out for some units

I have many air units at a size 9 airbase. For some of the units the option to convert to a Kamikaze unit is greyed out, and for some units Kamikaze conversion is available. Oddly, some of my units of the same plane type (KI-45 KAIc Nick) can be converted, while others of the same plane type (KI-45 ...

Re: “AI” cheating?

I went directly to the source on this one. In this case Deepseek. Very interesting that it suggests "an assistant" to help with the next move might be an intermediate step to assist players in completing their turns.

Here is what Deepseek responds to this prompt.
"When will AI be able to function ...

Re: airport and port attack

Most likely reason for planes not performing missions is bad weather at source airfield or target area.
Check the weather.
Double check you have the correct base targeted, planes are set to correct mission etc.

Otherwise, you should see them resume attacks when weather improves.

You are more likely to run out of vehicles than armaments. If I expanded anything it would be vehicles before armaments.

Re: Sunken Ships in WW2

Thanks for sharing this. Very cool. I wasted a lot of time looking up sunk ships from WWII. Seeing a visual of all ships sunk in WWII gives a powerful view of the scale of the war. Too bad for us so much action happened in the Off-Map zones!

Thanks for the new manual! It appears the Index page references are not correct.
My version of the manual ends at page 267. Most of the Index references pages 392-413.

Here is an excerpt from page 264 of the Index of the new manual dated 9/20/2022.

OT Philippine Mars plane gets ready for final run to Arizona

The first of these big amphibious transports arrived at very end of the war. Amazing that they can still fly!
You can see it if you are lucky when it flies to Arizona via San Francisco and San Diego.

Re: Keeping track of submarine/submarine commander scores

Yes, this would be a fun bit of "chrome". One would think this would not be too hard to program.
It would also be fun to see how much tonnage was sunk by surface combat, submarines, and air units.

I think in another 10 years Matrix will see this community is still thriving and will treat us to ...

Re: WITP again after 10 years, unfortunately with questions

The existing game is completely playable and enjoyable now. My advice is to start one of the GC scenarios, and then play the next game with the patch. Realistically, there are some tweaks in the patch, but seriously how much more fun will it be?

For maximum fun, nothing beats PBEM.

Re: WITP again after 10 years, unfortunately with questions

Welcome back to the game!

It will take awhile to remember all the things you used to know, but the learning curve will be quite quick when it starts to come back. You might want to play a short scenario to get the hang of mechanics before you dive back into the big Grand Campaign scenarios to avoid ...
