RE: Close Air Support

<t> I am a Marine and not AF. I agree that the Stragetic Bombing worked much less effective than sold. I also know that the had huge problem with over selling most of there BDAs and underpalnning during WWII. I study CAS a lot for my work side, so I look at historical cases. That is why I am posting ...

RE: Close Air Support

<t> Until 5-6 years ago the services had different perpsectives on what CAS meant. [X(] We went more to a Joint definition after OIF I & OEF. <br/>
<br/>
The TACP/FAC FAC (A) where first done during WWII in 43/44 I think in the PAC. Close CAS was conducted, but one of the biggest problems was ...

RE: Close Air Support

<t> The Marines have always tried to conduct CAS historically, because of a lack of artillery. Duriing WWII it USMC MAWs where mostly not in direct support of USMC Divisions. Early on they where learning just like everyone else, but there where 2-3 MAGS that coducted all CAS supporting the US ARMY ...

RE: So whats your log-in all about?

<t> I joined the Marines in 86 and was doing my first exercise. Part of my Boot qualifications was the axe qualification. Axe qual is when Marines blindfold you and you try to split a quarter. The real game was they threw your soft cover or hat on the quarter and you chopped it up to pieces. During ...

RE: Game Balance & Historical Accuracy

<t> I am a yankee, but I have to admit that there was a large leadership advantage with the South. Especially early in the war. I am not an ACW expert, but I have read quite a few of the books, so some of this may not be totally correct.<br/>

RE: "Which Aircraft were difficult to maintain? and why?".

<t> My opinion is even now it is difficult keeping older aircraft up 80 - 90 % depending on type of aircraft. I would try to find a number that is average for all aircraft and then base the rest off their own individidual aircraft type. Ron, I hope you can get this to work! One of the major problems ...

RE: Sqn Exp. on Escort CVs

Yeh, I do have a training area just in DEI North of Darwin. I will try to use them there. Another question. Has anyone ever tried the later scenarios? Having zero replacement aircraft and most of the sqns at 50-75 percent at start changes your thinking drmatically.

Sqn Exp. on Escort CVs

<t> I do not know if this is historical or not, but I started one of my first PBEM with US and it was the 43 June - 46 scenario. I normally play IJN. The Sqns that where on the CVEs that are in San Fran have 25-26 exp. There is at least 4-5 sqns like this. This was at the start. Is this how bad ...

<t> The Army and the Marine division on the West Coast where at about 50% at this time. The Marine Aircraft Sqns were not on Wake or Midway and back still at Ewa, but the (5) Def Bn where in place across the Pacific already. With the two remaining at PH. <br/>
