Putting AE in a Certain Perspective

Post by GaryChildress »

Will AE be perfect, no. Will AE be BETTER than WITP? It looks like an indisputable, YES to me so far. And that is still saying a lot in my book. I still think WITP is one of the best game concepts on the market at the moment, even given whatever idiosyncracies or flaws it may have.

I'm also delighted to see that Matrix Games does care about its products and does care about making them better, case in point, the many reissues coming out right now of older PC games in Matrix Packaging which have had fixes applied to them. I could certainly be wrong, but I know of no other companies out there that have officially sponsored so many fan created fixes and improvements upon games.

I know we in the forum ask for a lot. I've seen what appear to be some minor frustrations exchanged between forum members and those on the AE team. I, for one, don't want the AE team to think that their efforts are not appreciated. Differences of opinion aside on what is balanced or what is "gamey", it is still a great thing they are doing and they are doing it for the whole community.

There's a very nice emoticon which the Civilization III Fanatics forums has which I wish Matrix would incorporate and that's the "Hat's Off" smiley. I think the AE team deserves one, at least from where I stand. Or maybe a "thumbs up"/"Good Job" emoticon--seems like a good addition to the Matrix forums as well.

Thanks AE team, keep up the great work! And please continue to keep one ear on the rest of us in the forum as you have always done!

The AE team mulled over their plans in detail, tirelessly working thru their entire day making plans for our benefit.

My apologies, I didn't get much sleep last night. I'm having trouble interpreting things this morning. [:(]

I will also support Gary's comments, and add one more. I've been very, VERY impressed with how civil the AE forums have been. All the usual crabs (no names -- we all have our own lists of them, anyway) are being polite, very little sniping going on, etc. Thanks to everyone for making the AE forums pleasant to read!

I have been gone for awhile and just got a chance to read through all of the AE threads. I totally agree and thanks for the hard work!

Since we're getting all gushy...

Definite KUDOS to the devs and Matrix Games! I love your games, your dedication to building a great product, and your dedication to represent the conflict with accuracy.

In fact, kudos only to them, but to those who post here on a regular basis. I have never had my opinions on the history of the war in the Pacific so influenced as by what I have read and discussed here. We really do have some brilliant and very knowledgeable posters.

I've had many of my (mis)conceptions of the war dramatically altered and improved. As fiery and stubborn as some of the discussions are, they really do help inform and improve the understanding of the period.

Thanks to all of you to improving me personally!
