FoW is fine in a tactical game. In a strategic game it is stupid. It is also not EiA.

So stop looking for a fight and go play EUII

What he said!

<t>I agree that FoW is a bad idea, if only because a game with FoW would not be Empires in Arms. To those who suggest it as an option, I reply with another question; how much extra coding would be required to allow for that option? It would seem to me that the AI would have to have two modes to play ...

FoW

I agree that it *could* be done. However, the product would not be Empires in Arms.

Maps

I have seen some intriguing maps for The Americas and the Middle East in other places. Have you considered 'expansion' sets for EiA [possibly as a patch or follow-up product] that would incorporate these?

TCP/IP

<t>I would like to see this, but it is not sine-qua-non to the game. By all means, release a single player / e-mailable version first, and then put in the bells and whistles for TCP/IP and Network play. <br/>
<br/>
That would give us all time to acclimate to the interface, and when it is available ...

club play

<t>I was a member of the A&A online club...not sure the situations compare. My games were by e-mail, and A&A is typically played with 2, not 5 players.<br/>
<br/>
However, even conceding those points, an A&A game is usually decided within 8-15 turns, not 120...<br/>
<br/>
Even so, I will likely wish ...

Updates and release dates

<t>I am as anxious as the rest of you, but give a choice, I am glad to wait. I trust that the developers [Who seem to be very interested not only in producing a salable product, but also respect the game enough to want to produce a faithful rendition of the game], will keep us as informed as they ...

System Requirements

What kind of supercomputer will I need to run EiA?

If I have to buy some more memory, faster processor, etc, I'd like as much notice as possible?

Ships, number, etc

<t>It seems to me that part of the British numerical advantage has to be based upon quality as well.<br/>
<br/>
The rules say that ships equate to a ship of the line 'or a force of ships of approximately equal power'.<br/>
<br/>
The British navy was not so much larger that it gets twice as many ...

<t>I agree with Hoplosternum. <br/>
<br/>
If you want bidding, there is nothing to stop you from doing it offline.<br/>
<br/>
Just record the bids and assign players accordingly. Subtract your bids from the score.<br/>
<br/>
It would be nice if you could do it on-line, but I'm more interested in the ...

Authenticity

<t>For what it is worth, I wish to urge Matrix that they avoid abandoning the look and feel of the original game to court more ‘authenticity’.<br/>
<br/>
Yes, Poland was the ‘Grand Duchy of Warsaw’, and it was supposedly administered by a third party. <br/>

Options

<t>As has been discussed in other locations, I think that EiH options have both their appeal and their market, but that such options would be best if they were ‘selectable’ though an options screen, allowing the user to play a pure EiA game if they wished, and add details and options as they become ...
