What is normal late war against a good opponent.

I am playing the bottlenecks mod and for the first time I've played up to late 1943. I have a question for the vets that have played late into the game. Is it normal that I can't get air superiority or fill my squadron's out historically for lack of planes?

With 50 something thunderbolds and 40 ...

Re: AI or change in execution in v28?

Thank you for the responses.

1. Force Z was out of the area returning to Capetown. It was not part of the issue.
2. I don't know what the threat tolerances were, they were AI controlled and I did not look at that when I peaked. I don't know if the AI even uses threat tolerances.
3. It was scenario ...

Re: AI or change in execution in v28?

In in late December, and I'm Allied against the Japanese AI. The TFs that send additional troops to Malaya from Cambodia that should sail around singapore and land on the w side of the penensula instead whet east of borneo and south of Java. I found them by accident (3 TFs) in late december and ...

AI or change in execution in v28?

I am playing the official nasty level 1 scenario against the AI. I have played this many times before using the older exe files (mostly 26a or 26b) and saw something I have never seen before with the latest beta, v28. Reinforcements sailing from Cambodia for the Singapore assault in December 41 were ...

Looking for Japanese Opponent Bottlenecks Mod

I've got one game of the next to the last version of the Bottlenecks mod going and it's at 5/43. I've lost Oz (all of it) and lost via sudden death (which we ignored) and will fight on, and I would like to start another game to try to see if I've learned anything from my current thrashing.

In that ...

If anyone is interested, I think Le Triomphant was at Sidney on December 8th undergoing repairs.

Is it possible?

I think the bottlenecks mod is by far the most fun to play because of the need to move civilians and resources limiting your early game options and supplies while also requiring shipping. And the rail system in NE India (ferries rather than rail lines) changes everything for the good. The only ...

Re: Allied Opponent wanted

Would you consider Bottlenecks in the Pacific Mod instead of scenario 1? I'm an allied player looking for more games of that specific mod.

Recommendation and Questions about Bottlenecks scenario

I highly recommend bottlenecks in the Pacific. I am getting trashed by an excellent Japanese player, its June 1942 and I've almost lost all of Oz. (He did not finish off the DEI and was able to invade the Oz west coast with a massive force and then follow up on the south side of Oz cutting the rails ...

Re: Looking for an Allied player

I would love to play and can get sometimes more than 10 turns a week. I'm taking a beating in Scenario 2 (lost Deli in India in February 1942 and want to play a more realisitic game while that one continues on.

Re: More Strategy Questions and Garrisons

I may not get to Deli before he does. His northward advance is faster than mine. His shipboard stuff was already in the correct mode for rail, and his airborne folks captured the railheads, so started railing right after landing and he has more stuff near Deli now than I do. So I may not make it to ...

Re: More Strategy Questions and Garrisons

Thanks for the post.

Same opponent, similar situation. Lots of information or responses and dealing with the problems this specific IJN/IJA approach causes. I think perhaps this may be outside the opening that most Japanese players will attempt. I'll read this, carefully, but I don't think it's ...

Re: More Strategy Questions and Garrisons

I play mostly solitaire, but like to play as if the AI opponent is human, and then use the AI to practice for an ocassional PBM. However, sometimes I get a major wake up call against a real human that makes me rethink everything.

I'm playing PBM in early March 1942 against a human and have lost ...

More Strategy Questions and Garrisons

I mostly play allied and have failed miserably as Japanese.

As Allied I see 10 Division stacks against me in India or China (early war) which I can't manage to do as Japanese myself. My opponent told me how he is able to do it. Don't worry, he says, too much about garrisons early game. After ...

Strategy Help from Allied Players Only Please--Not my opponent if you dont mind.

Allied Player Scenario 2 at end of Feb 1942.

I need suggestions/advise.

Japanese control Singapore and most of PI and all of Dutch Endies except Java and landed north of Bombay just south of Karachi end of Feb and is racing forward to Deli with about 5 armored units. Very good use of paratroops as ...

Typo? 31st or 35 PG

As best I can tell the 31st PG (later FG) moved to Europe, whereas the 35 PG was actually in the pacific and contained the 39, 40 and 41 PSs. In the game the unit assigned to the SW pacific (II fighter command early in the game looks to be misnamed).

I have been away from the game for some time ...

Re: Question about Base Forces

I have a group picture of my dad with the HQ and HQ squadron 18th AF Base Group at Wheeler Field taken November 1941 by Schofield Studios. There were about 180 men in the photo for the HQ and supporting squadron. I assome that there were other components of the Base Group than just the HQ squadron ...

Re: CV Escort as a mission type

I think that CVE missions are not penalized for being in a costal hex whereas other air TFs are. Perhaps someone else can say for sure.
