Re: How many people feel that War in the West did not live up to its potential?

I've been playing War in the West since 2013 when I became a beta tester. I've played multiple 1943 Grand Campaigns I LOVE this game. I've modified scenarios and equipment. I've never played a game more or longer than I've played this game.

Does that answer your question?

Re: Axis Air HQ Usage?

I will admit upfront that I've never played Axis, only Allied, so this advice may not be useful:

For the Allies, I assign air groups to the air corps HQ level so that I can get more air directives per turn and have more flexibility in my air doctrine. If you do that and you plan to assign escorts ...

Re: Can't assign artillery support units out of SHAEF

That SS panzer division may not be encircled because it's in a port. If you put a naval TF not next to the port but one more hex away, that will cut off naval supply.

Re: Can't assign artillery support units out of SHAEF

Bobbycat - I haven't played it in many months either, but I think the issue is as you said; that SHAEF is in England and your other HQ's are in France. You CAN transfer them from SHAEF by clicking on the SHAEF HQ icon and doing it from there one-by-one. You just can't draw them into the subordinate ...

RE: Does attaching construction to a city speed up repair?

You didn't click on either Manpower or Heavy Industry to get an asterisk next to them to indicate you want them to be prioritized for repair.

Did you so tests with and without the construction battalions?

RE: Does attaching construction to a city speed up repair?

Yes. Also you should click on what in the city you particularly want to repair so it focuses there. You can attach several construction units to a city to speed repair.

RE: Air base command

Longer range missions do cause more morale loss and also air losses.

Fuel becomes an issue for the Allies when they invade Northern Europe and don't have large, repaired ports.

RE: Air base command

To reset an airbase's nationality from UK to US or vice versa:

1. Set airbase TOE to Auto
2. Set airbase AHQ to the nationality you want
3. Leave airbase empty for one turn

RE: AI vs AI

I've tried AI v. AI a few times - small sample size - and my experience is that half the time the Allies either don't invade Italy after taking Sicily, or get stuck in the toe.

RE: Assigning ground support question

<t> Yes! Several years ago I learned the hard way to set automatic training in all air commands to ZERO. It turned out that for transport air groups to do air drops they need to have 0 movement, and if one pilot flew a training flight that gave that unit a 1 movement, and they couldn't drop the ...

RE: Assigning ground support question

Until you have airborne corps or army, you have to land airborne in an adjacent hex to either an amphib invasion hex or an existing on-map ground unit.

<t> 4. Don't worry about the FB-F's. They don't dive with the FB's on dive-bombing.<br/>
6. I should clarify one thing here. ALSO don't rest your Air Superiority air groups if they're in AD's that fly in both Friendly and Enemy phases.<br/>

1. Escorts of particular AD's are more effective than an Air Superiority umbrella over an area.<br/>

RE: Assigning ground support question

<t> A few answers, probably in reverse order:<br/>
<br/>
1. As the Allied player, I always assign air superiority over the front lines, and sometimes also assign escorts to GA missions. That tends to become less necessary if you're playing a campaign as you wear down the Luftwaffe. When you say ...

<t> GA-Unit is a Ground Attack AD with Unit as the target rather than interdiction as the target. It's my preference to use in attacks, but others here feel Interdiction is better because lower air losses, though I haven't really seen that myself.<br/>

The only time I've had a problem with the keyboard is when I've left the game running for days and I'm also running a lot of other programs.

Do you have lots of RAM memory to run the game?

1. To your original request: try, but no guarantee, running it full-screen instead of windowed, or vice versa.

2. You should upload the image as a JPEG and then check "Embed picture in post".

My head says don't do this, but by heart says I have to.

Do you realize that I was the one who solved the player's problem with the correct answer?

Loki (aka Roger) and I both have been answering questions on this board for 4-5 years.
