Slowing down the CPU

<r> When playing SPWaW on my laptop I usually gets quite annoyed by the fact that the CPU starts running at full speed creating a lot of heat which makes the fans run at high-speed creating a lot of noise (and a lot of heat in my lap). Beside the heat problem the increased CPU-speed reduces battery ...

RE: Small battle on the eastern front?

With "small" I mean something in the region 1500 points, but since I'm not very used to playing PBEM I'm open for alternatives.

I'm playing version 8.4. Are you interested?

Small battle on the eastern front?

Hi

Anyone interested in a small battle between Germany and Russia? I can play either side and don't have any preferences regarding date or time of day. I'm not used to use infiltrators or airstrikes, but maybe this is the time to learn? What do you say?

RE: A few questions

<r> Hi, and welcome to the game. I hope you will enjoy it the way many of us already bitten do. You may find the learning curve a bit steep in the beginning, but I assure you it's well worth it. For me it's the only game I play and I keep getting back to it after testing a few others.<br/>

Proper use of recon-units

<t> Hi<br/>
<br/>
No matter how I am using my recon units they always seem to be detected and eliminated by the enemy (mostly the AI). Mostly I put them at beside the march-way I think the enemy will use and set the range to zero (or sometimes to 1) but there always seems to be an enemy that ...

OT: Ammunition improvements?

<t> Hi<br/>
<br/>
I know it's off-topic, but did ammunition improve during WW2? I know the guns as weapon considered got a lot better during the war, but I am under the impression that new guns could use ammo with more gun-powder (or whatever the thing that makes the loud 'boom' is called in ...

I have just set up a game with Mimo, but I'm willing to play against you too. Any arena any time is ok with me. The only restriction I have is that I have _never_ tried playing with C/C on so I would prefer to have it off. I'm quite experienced in playing against the ...

Small battle, slow tempo

Hi

Is there anyone who is interested in playing a small battle, say 1500pts, at a low tempo, maybe 2-4 turns a week?

I can play any nation any period, but I would prefer Germany-Russia 41-43.

RE: New display ViewSonic VA902

<t> The foggyness (is that a correct english word?) is probably caused by the fact that LCD-screens has a fixed number of pixels, for instance 1400x1050. When used in any other setting, like 800x600 which SPWaW uses if I remember correctly, it has to 'emulate' that setting by using it's fixed pixels ...

RE: huge e-mail file

You can also zip the four files of your ongoing game to your opponent. The .rec-file compresses extremely well, so the zip-file usually gets 2-300kB.

RE: What is a balanced visibility?

<t> Thanks for your answers. However, most answers discuss personal preferences but what I would like to know is if visibility favours any nationality at any time? Is there any settings that should be avoided when setting up games between friends who both are pretty inexperienced with PBEM:ing?<br ...

RE: What is a balanced visibility?

Thanks for the warning.

How about you other skilled players out there. Do you feel that visiblity affects balance in PBEM-games or do others factors such as map type make more difference?

What is a balanced visibility?

<t> Hi<br/>
<br/>
I'm setting a PBEM-game up for playing with a friend. In our latest game we had a visibility of 35 which felt like it favoured me since I was playing german against US (him) in -44. Those excellent guns of the Panthers and even PzIV-f2 ventilated his Shermans without them having ...

<t> Hi<br/>

I just reformatted my harddrive and need to download SPWaW again. But I can't find any functional server to download from. Sofar I have tried WorthPlaying.com, GamersHell.com and FilePlanet.com but neither of them gives me a complete file - I just get 1kB, then the transfer stops ...

<t> When I played my first email game there was a lot of questions. Some of them I figured out myself, some of them my opponent helped me with (thanks Rbrunsman for all the tips). When trying to remember what problems I had I came up with this list (in no particular order):<br/>

Point advantage in advance-defend

<t> Hello<br/>
<br/>
