Can't load previous version savegames.

<t> Since the last update I can't open 1.07 version in-battle savegames. My PC simply freezes. It's a real setback since sadly all my latest saves were in-battle, I don't have any briefing savegame from the current Grand Campaign I was playing.<br/>

Is there any way to solve this? I have the ...

Perhaps a message in the Battle Report would be meretorious to add in cases when would-be besiegers are of insufficient strength to initiate.<br/>

I'd be happy if the only change is in having the AI not bring them out of home territory. Guerilla's did well because they were fairly local, if not immediately local, to the region over which they operated. They had some, if not a lot, of ...

RE: v1.2.18 Beta Now Available

I thought that we'd have to wait until 1.3 for some of these changes (frigate and siege stuff), I'm very happy that you added them to this version. Great job!

RE: how does one transfer men between units

That's the first notice I have of this feature, as well. Interesting... might be worth testing, hehe.

So, if you reinforce high morale units with militia the morale isn't affected negatively? That may be an exploit, indeed.

<t> 1.2.17 is still a betapatch and downloadable via the members section.<br/>

I was in a similar position as yours, waiting for the real patch to come (with the difference that I already had the game and have been playing it in order to learn it) before starting a serious campaign. But I ...

RE: Updated manual

AFAIK there's still no updated manual. I've read about it too, but as a possiblity, and I'd say that it would be more than welcome!

I'll try it, of course. No way I'm going to pass the Christmas vacations without playing CoG. :D

So no definitive patch until next year? [:(]

Well, at least we have a new betapatch to try... [:)]

RE: v1.2 Patch News

That's great! I'm currently playing some few turns experimenting things just for learning the game. When 1.2 is out, I'll start my first serious campaign game. :)

RE: Guess where the French went?

<t> Well, I don't think that we are suggesting to develop a different game, simply a modification of current rules.<br/>
<br/>
What I would do is to leave as it is now (so a conquered enemy city acts as a supply source) BUT adding some limitations to it, whether putting a maximum army size that a ...

RE: Guess where the French went?

<t> Well, almost all wargames, even the simplest ones have rules dealing with lines of supply, and sometimes they are really restrictive, as they should be. Usually things as simple as the classical: 'if a unit can't trace a continuous line of owned or occupied provinces toward his lines, it is ...

RE: Guess where the French went?

<t> Aye, units without a supply line from friendly territory wouldn't last long. <br/>

Although they could feed themselves (to a certain point) from the occupied land's agricultural production, I don't think that an isolated occupied enemy city is a valid unlimited supply source for things ...

RE: Painfully arranged trades

Aaah, very wise suggestions, PDiFolco.

I'd also wish that the trades were managed at a 'State' level rather than at 'province level'.

Currently trade is, IMHO, one of the few lacking points (gameplay wise) of this otherwise great game.
