how does one transfer men between units

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

how does one transfer men between units

Post by Treefrog »

Ralegh's tips on starting a new game include this "(g) ... Most countries forces start partially depleted . . . . Consider transferring men from poor morale units into a high morale units of the same type (i.e. pumping militia into infantry)."

In Ralegh's tip guides, # 6 Proper Use of Militia at 6.3 it says, "Want to USE those militia? - Move men from the militia unit into an infantry unit in the same province using the Military Adviser screen. I often 'top up' key units manually rather than waiting for renforcements to trickle in."

I can't find the rules or push the correct buttons to make this happen. Help !![&o]

I've done it before...although like Raleigh implies, its a bit of an exploit as you can fill out high morale troops with lowly militia this way.

The trick is, in the Military advisor screen (ie, the one that scrolls down all you units, and you can also give targets to your allies) click on the unit you want to transfer from, until its borders light up; then move the cursor over the unit you want to transfer to, click, and then a slider window should pop up asking how many men you want to transfer over.

Thanks jimwinsor. I don't think that tasty bit is anywhere in the rules.

That's the first notice I have of this feature, as well. Interesting... might be worth testing, hehe.

So, if you reinforce high morale units with militia the morale isn't affected negatively? That may be an exploit, indeed.

Well changes have been made to this "feature"

you used to be able to put some high morale Inf into a Mil and turn it into a low morale Inf unit

big thing to watch, is you can only put the same type of troop into the same type of unit

Inf/Mil into Inf/Mil
Cav into Cav
Lancer into Lancer
Lt Inf into Lt Inf

and so on and so on
