Re: Replenishing carrier airgroups

I believe there is a bug to do with the pilots in the Air replacement Unit (VR). If you transfer manually then only the ac are received. In auto with ‘Replacements on’ then both ac and pilots are transferred, I don’t think should be? Another work around might be to send the pilots back to the repla...

Re: Move Air Group to Theater

If you want to send it to the map, right click on an air base on the map instead.

There you will find the option to move units to the air base form the reserve.

Re: Air Theater Movement

Check the game settings.

My guess would be that you have the AI air assist box checked.

uncheck it if checked.

Letters in aircraft listings ( probably related to Radar)

Hi, a question regarding the letters you can see in the list of aircraft you can choose from for bombing misssions or others.

What do they stand for ( i noticed n, j, r and some others i do not remeber right now)?

They are obviously related to radar.

n= nightfighter?

how to refuel ships

Hi,
Trying out the Ford showcase scenario

The Marines transport will run out of fuel in about 17 hours, before the scenario is over.
I have a tanker to refuel.

How do I set this up?

The same way I refuel aircraft?

Question regarding the training of CV squadrons

I have a CV squadron with low experience pilots. How/Where do i train them? I am aware that you can put squadrons on training, so it is is more a question of where the squadron has to be to be trained. a) while squadrons are on CV, the CV is in a TF. Will they train? b)squadron is on CV, but the CV ...

using the allied air force tactically. Ground attack or Ground support?

In War in the East 2 ( soviet side) i use my air assets mostly in the ground support role. But in this game, i am not sure. Still Torch scenario. It is difficult to get an idea of the effect of ground attack missions ( interdiction). Right now, I exclusively use them on Ground attack missions, with ...

Re: Air war allies torch to tunisia

Well, Follow up to my rant.

I used my air assets the wrong way.

In the second try, i kept my fighter planes further back, checked where exactly the Luftwaffe was flying interdiction missions and send some spare fighters on air superiority missions.

Much better results this time.

Russian Central Front without air command

Is there a historical reason for the decision that Central Front does not have a dedicated air command?

Air war allies torch to tunisia

I really tried every tactic. Ground support, ground attack, air superiority, attacking airfields. no effect. results every time: I attack his airfields-> no effect Axis AI attacks my airfields. I lose 60 planes in the air, and 80 on the ground I try to interdict ONE Hex with everything, ALL Bombers ...

Re: Soviet Air Operational Groups ->RAG

yes, i believe you can assign all types you want.

I believe I have found it.

RAG-> Reserve Air Group.

Historically, these were equipped like SAGs, but got the newer planes, better pilots, and were assigned to STAVKA as a reserve.

Fuel tankers

Great. Now you cannot even use them to refuel ships manually.
I always used them to manually refuel my fleets. tons of work, but the only way to get some use out of this class of ships.

Now not even that works.

Any ideas on how to use them at the moment? Or should i just scrap them?

Re: question regarding underway replenishment of "carrier air Mission points"

Thanks for the clarification.

One question to 4. Mission points.

With every air mission from a carrier, you expend mission points, representing, i think, gasoline and weapons such as torpedos. Do they also get replenished via ammunition transfers ( AEs)?

question regarding underway replenishment of "carrier air Mission points"

Hi, wonder if you can send a TF out in 1944/45 for almost indefinite amount of time ( as historical ) 1 ) fuel: underway replenishment possible 2 ) ammunition: underway replenishment possible 1945 3 ) planes : possibe 4 ) aviation fuel ( Mission points) : ? do they replenish too or do you need to do...

Ship design overview question

Manual under Auto Design (see green circle below) means that as new techs come out your ship will generally not be upgraded. You’ll need to select the design and then click Upgrade from this screen when new components are researched. You will probably have to manually manage the weapons each time yo...

just that, read here a while ago that you do not need to bother trying to break through the modern russian SAM systems ( like SA-21 Growler). They seem to be invincible, at least in the game.

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!

How does DW2 create planetary systems? Of Course, we do not exactly know what planetary systems look like, but there is a difference to be expected between a Type O star and a Type M star, for example. And what about the distribution of different star types? Type M stars seem to be more numerous tha...

What was the date when the Allies are allowed to use air dropped mines?
Something in 1943, I believe.

Is the same true for the Japanese ?
