RE: Steel Panthers Civil War Mod technical questions

<t> Well, then I guess that SPCW will never see the light of day, because, for one, the Confederate oob replaces the German oob, and in order to not have all German names, the names have to be changed, and the names are in the mech.exe file. That's just for starters (screen text will say stuff like ...

RE: Steel Panthers Civil War Mod technical questions

<t> Sami, it's nice to see that you are still around! One of the major problems that I see with a 19th century mod. (with the game constructed the way it is, now) is the situation with the unit icons, where you've got such a limited number of uniform colors. That works out ok in Steel Panthers, but ...

RE: Steel Panthers Civil War Mod technical questions

<t> Thanks for your efforts, FNG! I have made attempts to establish direct contact with the Matrix guys for over a year, now, but have personally never received an answer related to my question. The original group seemd to enjoy a much more direct line of communication with the people who could ...

RE: Steel Panthers Civil War Mod technical questions

<t> <br/>
<br/>
FNG, if you have a hex/text editor, go into the mech.exe file and find "next decade". The related code is in that vicinity. The 19--, as I said, was in text, so that was easy to change. I've not been so fortunate with the decades and year, which are variable. In a communication in ...

Steel Panthers Civil War Mod technical questions

<t> Gentlemen,<br/>
<br/>
As I have sought help from the Matrix guys on this issue, without receiving any response, I am asking the general community for assistance. Two things....First, I have tried for quite a while to figure out how to change the date inn the menu screen so that it correctly ...

As soon as the other zoom levels are done, and any changes that can be made based on play testing are made, a basic version of this game should be available. But, I have no experience with the timeline of a play testing situation, especially with something like this ...

<t> Gentlemen,<br/>

I am glad to see that the anticipation for this mod. is still there! I'm sorry that I haven't recently checked in. My work (I teach six classes, and a remediation study hall, of high school Earth Science to 170 9th-graders) has had me snowed under over the course of the ...

RE: Hard coding

Kevin,

Which slots are those?? That would be a good thing to know for the purpose of working on the weapons file for SPCW.

Thanks,

<t> Matt, <br/>
<br/>
Would you believe that I actually participated in the reenactment of the battle of Galveston twice? Remember that I was born and raised in Central Texas, and started reenacting when I was in about the 7th grade, and didn't quit until the early 90's. <br/>

<t> Thanks, Harry. Well, if you don't care for American Civil War, you could always do English, right? The infantry and artillery can already be played, though I'm sure many improvements can and will be made.<br/>

RE: Mr. Heath, where are you??!!

<t> "Anyway, this is a bit academic, as one shouldn’t really be modelling ship-to-ship engagements in SP, on the whole. I could see some ironclad/gunboat engagements on rivers(like Hoke’s attack on Plymouth,NC in 1864), but certainly not any confrontations between Confederate ships and Union ocean ...

<t> "The important detail that you're forgetting here is that the Minnesota had run aground while attempting to aid the Cumberland. THAT is why she was "defenseless". "<br/>

Didn't forget it. Just didn't include it, as I instead noted that the Virginia would have had to run itself aground to ...

RE: Mr. Heath, where are you??!!

<t> Fidel, the Virginia basically ignored the shot and shell from the Zouave, Cumberland, Congress and shore batteries at Newport News during its attack on the Minnesota and the Cumberland at Hampton Roads. The only thing that kept the Virginia from a direct confrontation with the Minnesota was the ...

Noooooo! Where's the attachment! Lack of sleep (the family is gone and I worked on SPCW until 4:00 this morning) has nothing to do with this, I promise!

RE: Mr. Heath, where are you??!!

I know these aren't Earth shattering, but I had to scale the images way down to get them to fit. reducing larger images messes up the picture so much that the details can't be seen. So, you'll just have to settle for the small ones.
