Re: Game stuck on Spain Placing Builds V 1.27.04

OK, I see the I Naples Lt fleet is unit#272, with the Holland designator. So you could see it in the unit pool, purchase it, and place it fine. Maybe it's just an AI issue with the incorrect nation designator. Whatever. I have made a note to fix it. Thanks!

Re: Game stuck on Spain Placing Builds V 1.27.04

Well that's interesting. The game advanced for me with the v1.27.04 final, so that's good. AI Spain was trying to place the I Naples Lt fleet (AI looks for >4 ships ready to place a new fleet) but apparently that unit #272 has a Holland country designator and not Naples, so the database needs fixing ...

Re: AI moves

I assume you have 'See AI Moves' enabled as a game option. Are you also enabling AAR Mode from the top menu buttons? You should be seeing individual unit moves with movement arrows. That's generally slow enough to see what's going on without bogging down the game. Is that still too fast??
AAR Mode ...

Re: EIA v1.27.04 Beta Hotfix #2/Release Version Available

Naval bug
Spanish fleets attacking british fleet. This causes the game to consistently crash in naval combat phase.

Good news is that this bug is fixed. Not sure if you were using Hotfix #1 or #2, or something I already fixed after that, but the release version for v1.27.04 that Matrix has and ...

Re: problem with surrendering conditions

I was trying to get 2 Polish provinces from Prussia, but still only one was ceded as a peace condition

I ran this twice, once in debug and again in release, and both times France got the 2 Polish provinces. Not sure what happened in your game? We'll keep an eye on it moving forward. Marshall ...

Re: Looking to buy the game

The irony is that back in the day I played the War & Peace boardgame but not Empires in Arms. Then I saw EIA at Matrix and got hooked. As for being passionate, it's more like being insane at times? LOL With Marshall Ellis coming back to code development, I may have more time to dip into Napoleons ...

Re: Looking to buy the game

I can't post the whole manual since it's larger than 10mb so I did a partial with the rules. You can also check out various EIA tutorials to see how the game plays (https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopic.php?t=360761). The game usually goes on sale a couple times a year. I've seen it down to about ...

Re: forage problems

Shouldn't it read 3(-3) so in fact autoforage ?

I see now. Good catch! So the rule is "If the corps did not move into an area outside the Major Power's territory this
month and is not now in such an area, "-1" is subtracted from the random number." The function unit_was_path_controlled was not ...

Re: forage problems

For #1, I think the values are correct but the log messages could be better. I abbreviated them a while back so they are easier to read in the game log, with Good or Lost showing before being cut off. But I removed the die roll info. I restored this so the info is more complete.

Re: fleet does not intercept in BB

Please check savegame attached two posts above (france_naval2) -it shows case of slipping blockade in London without being intercepted (it happend quite often on my playthrough, so maybe i'm doing something wrong while trying to blockade port)

another strange behaviour of AI fleet - Russian fleet blockaded in empty ally port in its land phase is claimed to be forced to evacuate and blockade box battle happens but with empty russian fleet, which then retreats unharmed after the battle

Re: EIA v1.27.04 Beta Hotfix #1/Release Version Available

Hotfix #1/Release Version for v1.27.04 official update is complete. I have sent files to Matrix for them to prepare the official update installation package. When that's done, and I've tested it, and they're ready then it will be announced. Final changes include:

Re: fleet does not intercept in BB

FYI, I set up and ran a couple of test cases where the AI French fleet must evacuate Brest and run the blockade against human Great Britain. In both cases, the math now appears correct.

1. 49:56, EIA
Defender rolls 15%, 56 x 0.15 = 8.4 = 8 Attacker losses, Attacker rolls 10%, (49 - 8) x 0.10 = 4 ...

Re: fleet does not intercept in BB

Short answer is no, this is not intended. Resolving issues with running blockades and lifting blockades has been challenging, and apparently we're not done yet. #1 is I don't see why GB had to evacuate Portsmouth since they control the port city. #2 is the combat result for 25% losses not looking ...

Re: problem with surrendering conditions

Yeah, that's intended. In the game manual, 6.4.3 Political Restrictions on Peace, Restrictions on Territorial Losses, states that no AI-controlled Major Power may ever have its home nation reduced by more than one province for any single victor for each surrender. This is a minor concession to the ...

Re: EIA v1.27.03 Beta Hotfix #5 Available

As I playtest and continue to fine-tune the AI performance, here's an example. I've been messing with a withdrawal function for AI France to rebalance its forces in the end game. Prussia and Russia in the north, Austria in the east, and Great Britain and Spain in the south. I first had "extra ...

Re: EIA v1.27.03 Beta Hotfix #5 Available

All fleets were loaded in Malmo.

OK, FYI, I was able to move all corps and fleets back to Malmo, advance the turn, and then do a deep dive into why the loaded corps location was an issue in the first place. BTW, this will be another chapter in my book "Why I Drink." So, anyways, unit locations ...
