Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #2 Available

For the full movement I have a treat for you - an actual save. The corps in question is III in Poitiers with Soult. Move it pls to Bayonne and it still have 4 moves. It seems it's "dipping into the sea" Area19 during the move, briefly appearing to be there.

Very good. This was helpful and I ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #2 Available

Are you playing just v1.27.02 or with Hotfix #1? I know I just fixed the builds issue with Hotfix #2, where if you cancel a minor's builds it reset to the Major Power's money and manpower. That's fixed. And I cannot recreate your combat issue. I'm pretty sure I fixed the run-on combat problem ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #2 Available

I played 1.27.02 over weekend and noticed a few more bugs.
1. Multiple city assaults possible in one turn.
2. Portraits of leaders who lost a battle and retreated to a different area are shown during siege / assault battle.
3. Demanded provinces reset and not ceded.
4. Mack and John were ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #2 Available

Hotfix #2 posted today. Lots of little things fixed over the past couple of weeks. I think the change to the combat die rolls was something I did a couple versions back, thinking it should be 0-5 (for +1 die roll 1-6), but I got a comment about not seeing any "6" die rolls. The combat tables, of ...

Re: TacOps

Got it, thanks. "Partly as a vaguely ominous recurring dream, partly as therapy." I am fearful of maybe doing this myself 20 years from now with Empires in Arms.

Re: TacOps

Have you got a link/reference to what Major H has been up to?

The most impressive aspect of his OPFOR AI was how it was doctrinally correct. Combat Recon Patrol in the lead (platoon-size), then Forward Security Element (company-size) about 3-5 km behind, and then the Main Force (battalion ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #1 Available

Related to that was strange string of combat log. FRA wins, FRA loses 2PP, BR gains 2PP, BR gains 2 PP (for the same action). I think the PP are adjusted as FRA ended up at the low end of neutral zone, although I wasn’t tracking the exact numbers before and after.

I have this resolved now, and ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #1 Available

Yes, that’s the one. I forgot about HOL fleet ending up blockading London while the BR fleet stayed in the sea zone.

I'm finding that somehow Holland is switched to attacker and Great Britain is switched to defender for the interception battle and that screws up loading units to battle. And ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #1 Available

I play as FRA in Jan 1805, NED fleet is not blockaded, when I move past the English channel the interception triggers but there are no battles or action and some random PP are awarded. I get to see the naval combat screen but with no fleets and no action. I can click on done to close the window ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #1 Available

FYI. I have been busy working on Hotfix #2 with several end-game issues regarding dissolving kingdoms and multiple surrenders. We are very interested in finding and resolving any and all lingering game bugs and gameplay issues, however large or small. Please, if you get a chance to play with Hotfix ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #1 Available

...and again, a BIG thanks for the continued support of the game.

Thank you! I try. As I reflect back on about 8-9 years(!) of my continued code development of this game, on top of Marshall Ellis's 15+ or so years(!) of code development (from before game release in 2008 until about 2016), it ...

I'm okay disabling defender, but why is it finding a known trojan?

I get occassional reports like this. I run Norton 360 on my system to keep it up to date. I just ran another scan to verify no issues with the zip file or EXE that I posted. It's possible that Norton is missing something that ...

Re: EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #1 Available

Hotfix #1 posted. More fixes made regarding conquering of kingdom components and Poland. This has been challenging. We still need to look at the case where COR or Ottoman is down to the last component and it's conquered, dissolving the kingdom. Admin moves will now move fleets into port, either the ...

Re: Question from a possible new player

I must admit I don't know what to choose.

Heck, wait a bit until the next sale when EIA is like $10 or $15 and try it. I've got War and Peace (Napoleon's Eagles) but haven't had time to get into it. Back in the day (like 45+ years ago) I was playing W&P and never played EIA until this computer ...

Re: The young Marie-Louise (beginner) questions

- As for Rhineland, I meant the "left bank", i.e. provinces like Julich, Palatinate and so on that were annexed to France and part of the de jure territory.
I've seen in the manual that Julich, for instance, is needed for CoR. => Does it switch to CoR upon creation or does it stay French (as it ...

Re: The young Marie-Louise (beginner) questions

Welcome! Please see https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopic.php?t=280699 regarding the large fonts. You need to install Quixley LET fonts. Regarding additional kingdoms, it would have been nice if Marshall Ellis had roughed these in when creating the original game. At this point, it's a pain to try ...

How is the economy in this game? If I would like to compare it to Crown of Glory EE?

I cannot comment on COG. EIA has en economic phase every three months where Major Powers collect money and manpower for their home provinces, conquered minor countries, and controlled Free States. There is also ...

EIA v1.27.02 Beta Hotfix #2 Available

Attached is Hotfix #2 for the v1.27.02 Beta for the next v1.27.xx official patch. This should be applied over the installed EIA v1.26.04 Official Update game files and previous v1.27.01 Beta and Hotfix versions. You should be able to extract (copy&paste) the new EXE file from the zip file directly ...

OK, I looked at these files:
update.dat - ‎August ‎26, ‎2009
earmsrez.cdd - ‎March ‎26, ‎2007
autorun.cdd - ‎September ‎19, ‎2007

They are all old legacy files from the early releases and updates, continued with the latest installers. Something to do with Matrix error-checking for a licensed ...

Re: password protected

This occassionally comes up, depending on your virus scan. I post zip files of my Beta updates and hotfixes, and they're clean on my end. Players can manually scan them and possibly exempt them from their scans if necessary. Of course, the official updates posted by Matrix are clean and usually don ...
