anemic "defenses" seem almost worthless for cost of 200

The "defense" units on the coast seem next to worthless except to prevent the aggressor from just walking in; they don't really stop the aggressor:
they are only 5 sp
you cannot increase their sp above 5
they have no AP so you can't move then out of the way
you cannot add infantry regiments ...

RE: Advice for Noob playing CSA vs the AI.

Champagne,
In the archives is an article I wrote many years ago explaining, inter alia, the combat system. It received many favorable comments.

Have fun.

missing AAR?

I was reading an excellent AAR of a game between the reporter (I forgot his handle, but he got rave reviews) and Fafnir, but now I can't find it to finish reading.

Anyone know where to find it?

Thanks.

RE: Yes to invade Denmark/Norway or No and invade on your own?

Frankly, I never read a clear reply in the thread that the diplomatic hit was the same whether you invaded/conquered Denmark or paid the 100 mpps to occupy it.

Any thoughts?

research activity summary

I like the addition of an "activity summary" log but note nothing is ever written in the "research activity summary".

What's up with that?

RE: New guy curious about events

Vladivostok event was intended to be every turn
what is the intended event?
the possible damage to the IJN or the loss of mpps to soviets?

<t> Novel idea. Thanks for the report.<br/>

However, presumably an attack through the Maginot Line takes more time than thru Benelux, giving a human player far longer use of the French fleet & British carriers to destroy the Italian fleet, raising the question of how does the Axis transport ...

Unforeseen events like these make it a good thing we don't play these games for money.

RE: How did the Soviets form a new 6 city republic in my rear.

The Italians only occupied Orel. The other were either German garrisoned or were not "partisan" prone.

gripe or confusion on Italian defection

<t> March/April 1943 interphase Italy left the Axis without any notice (I don't know who they surrendered to but all their territory was listed as Axis control so presumably the surrendered to Germany). Italian morale was 20 due to loss of African colonies, half the navy and miscellaneous casualties ...

How did the Soviets form a new 6 city republic in my rear.

Italian defection caused Orel to become ungarrisoned so presumably a partisan rose up there. However before the German turn, Kaluga, Konotop, Bryansk, Ryzhsk and Kaluga all became soviet with a large, connected territory.

How did that happen.

Kudos to this player. He kept the game interesting and was very punctual with turns. I'd play him again, despite just getting whopped.
