January 15/16 1943

Well' I'm back, with a nasty case of asthma.

He has invaded at Auki and Rennell, which were set up as traps.

Allied air losses on the 13/14/15 have been averaging 9 or so, while the Japanese have been averaging 32.

RE: Jan 12/13

We have a patch, so there will be a couple of turns until the sync bug works its way out of the system. It affects surface naval combat, so I really don't know where I stand until then.

Midway Analysis

<t> The Midway force consisted of 28 mixed fighters, while the American carriers had 79 F4Fs.The KB had 91 Zeros. To suppress the Midway force, the KB had to allocate 57 fighters to CAP, leaving 34 for escort. To launch against the KB, the American strike needed 29 F4Fs, leaving 60 in the CAP.<br ...

<t> 2.5. If you want to reliably suppress a collection of land bases, with a maximum of N active fighters operating at any of them, your collection of CVTFs (which need to sail together), needs slightly greater than 2*N fighters on CAP. You then can strike the bases individually and in turn with an ...

RE: How about a "Balanced" scenario?

<t> Use the victory point system for TK2. About half way through the campaign, the German player gets the choice of being offensive or defensive. If offensive, he goes for it all and gets lots of offensive forces; if defensive, he can't do better than his situation in a month, and gets lots of ...

Japanese invasion at Auki. Auki was always intended to be a trap. I guess we'll find out. The large minefield did not discourage a Japanese BB bombardment.

Allied air losses: 2; Japanese 18.

RE: US LBA Will Not Launch Against CV`s(again)

<t> That means, by the way, that the KB can suppress LBA if your CAP is greater than 2x the strength of the island's fighters and you have 0.5x the strength of the island's fighters on escort. I.e., 2.5x the fighter count on the island is the magic number. That's easy to do if you concentrate your ...

RE: US LBA Will Not Launch Against CV`s(again)

It's mostly that your escorts need at least half the strength of the defending CAP. If you don't have that, the strike won't launch.
