US LBA Will Not Launch Against CV`s(again)

Post by Richard III »

What am I doing wrong here ?

This is the second time a small KB has visited Midway and tho spotted, right in the hex, lot of supply, no fatigue and high morale on a Lv. 4 AB the LBA`s will not attack. This goes on for 2 turns so far this time. 4 turns last time. Possibly my pilots are firing their .45`s at them from the beach, but I think bombs are better...[X(]

Offical Patch with dababes lite 26 and last Beta.

I`ll note that in this game both Brit and Dutch LBA, with low supply and bad morale/fatigue stats launch at low level against Japs CV`s but not US, including the AAF Banshes & B-17`s from other bases. Herwin seems to have the same issues with US LBA not attacking Jap carriers in a game.....as have others.

It's mostly that your escorts need at least half the strength of the defending CAP. If you don't have that, the strike won't launch.

That means, by the way, that the KB can suppress LBA if your CAP is greater than 2x the strength of the island's fighters and you have 0.5x the strength of the island's fighters on escort. I.e., 2.5x the fighter count on the island is the magic number. That's easy to do if you concentrate your KB.

agreed. my experience shows that way more than one squadron of fighters (in range-which isn't an issue for you in this case) is needed to get a strike to launch even against a mini-KB.

Does this 2x and 0.5x rule apply to one base only?

Say I have 3 adjacent bases, enemy CV fleet has 600 fighters on CAP. Should I put 300 fighters on escort on each base to make them strike or I can put 100 fighters on escort on each of the three bases and they'll try to coordinate the strike?

Can someone please further explain this? Thanks!
