RE: Air Intercept/VID questions

<t> Great call with the Weps Hold ROE. I'll definitely try that.<br/>
<br/>
For those who don't know (it's a common misconception), Weapons Hold will allow you to fire in self defense or defense of others, so it's not a complete nerf. If you don't get the ROE back to Tight in time, the section ...

RE: Air Intercept/VID questions

<t> Thanks for the quick reply, Apache.<br/>
<br/>
So if there isn't a specific command, the best bet is to create air intercept missions from ready-on-the-ramp aircraft? If a section or flight is already airborne, and based on their weapons loadout (e.g. BVR capable) I want them on a high ...

Air Intercept/VID questions

<t> In attempting Flight Tutorial 6 (AAW-4), I have to intercept multiple groups of aircraft to determine whether they are bandit/hostile or civilian traffic. I am getting frustrated because I'm at the point where I task the F-16s to intercept a group, but I don't want to use the "Engage Target ...

<t> Another vote here for 12x8 resolution.&nbsp; This is a game I would definitely use more on my laptop, as I could play it on the commuter train on my way home from work.<br/>

FWIW, I used Getright for my download and it worked great. One nice thing about Getright is it tells you during the download whether the site <U><s></s>doesn't<e></e></U> support download resuming. I never got this message downloading from Matrix/DR.<br/>

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>How can I force the 4.x software into enhanced mode without enhanced software running?<e>
</e></QUOTE>

Therein lies the problem.&nbsp; I know that the game must directly support enhanced mode, but the game still may need to be recognized by the TIR software in ...

RE: TrackIR support

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I believe you can work around this by forcing a profile to be loaded in the TIR software regardless of game launch.&nbsp; Of course, the issue then is enabling TIR Enhanced support in-game.

RE: TrackIR support

<t> Great news.<br/>
<br/>
In the meantime, I was able to get it to work using TIRMouse.exe in the TrackIR 4.0 folder.&nbsp; You have to program a button for the right mouse button and enable mouselook, but it works, however crudely.<br/>

Of course, it looks like the mouse y axis is ...

RE: TrackIR support

I'm trying to figure this one out myself.&nbsp; The instructions say it supports TIR 3.1, but then nothing beyond how to enable the feature.

Hopefully, SS doesn't exclusively support 3.1, as most people are using 4.0 now.

<t> One more thing, Bibbo.<br/>
<br/>
I know this is basic, but sometimes overlooked.&nbsp; Do you lock your tailwheel after taxiing and before takeoff?&nbsp; That might help with your ground operations.<br/>

Man, you're really getting into the varsity level now!<br/>

Getting and holding a firing solution is arguably the toughest part of the game; if you can get that down, you've really entered the big time.<br/>

I was afraid that might be the case with the bitmaps.&nbsp; However, at this point I would gladly settle for the same BMP files blown up to 4x the size (i.e. twice the pixels on each axis).&nbsp; At 16x12 it would be like viewing the old game in 8x6 (perfect!), albeit with more ...

Resolution and Zoom: a suggestion

<t> First off, great job in recreating this classic. And releasing it just before I go on vacation is fortuitous timing indeed!<br/>
<br/>
One area where the graphics engine still shows its age, though, is in its zoom levels. Back in "the day", the standard resolution was 8x6 or 10x7 and the ...

<t> I'd definitely go with the complete pack, even if you're not big into the Pacific theater. Not only are some of the planes added in Pacific Fighters used in other maps (such as the A-20), but the latest patches are all based off the IL2+Pacific Fighters combined install. You will also need this ...
