RE: French Guards and replacements

<t> I've played in quite a few games where France beat on Spain and Prussia, and they didn't feel it was particularly balanced. Also had games where 5 or 6 countries beat on 1, adn the 1 never felt like he was getting the best of balance. The "internal balance" of EiA is whatever the players make of ...

RE: French Guards and replacements

<t> Good idea says I. France starts out with Old Guard, but once the Young Guard corp is introduced, a factor has to pay its dues in the Young Guard corp for a little while before kicking it up. Problem with this scenario is: How does France build guard units before the young guard corp is ...

RE: French Guards and replacements

It's probably too late to change reinforcements systems, or it might upset game balance too much, but I definitely think the Guard Corps should be split into two corps, the second of which has less morale, can only be commited one shift, and comes into the game at a later date.

RE: Tell us where to go after EiA...???

Definitely the period from the beginning of Louis XIV's rule to the end of the Northern War and the death of Peter the Great.

RE: Play as the USA

<t> Maybe as a start Matrix could release a version with Sweden and particularly America as Uncontrolled Major Powers. They are definitely more powerful than the usual minor, and can exert far more influence on European matters than others, but Sweden is just not powerful enough to really contend ...

RE: Economic Phase and OOB

<t> Isn't it true that the National Cards only display the MAXIMUM/POTENTIAL strength of the corps, not the ACTUAL strength? In this case, who cares if the National cards are displayed, because they have fixed numbers on them. I think, however, that a country's money and manpower should be 'secret ...

RE: OPTIONAL RULES List

<t> Aside from a general idea of how resilient AI controlled countries are, though, are there more specifically predictable behaviors involved. For example, if French player is the host against human players GB, Turkey, and Prussia, does the Frenchman know that AI Russia is very likely to backstab ...

RE: OPTIONAL RULES List

Marshall,

What exactly does it mean for each counrty to be adjustable for difficulty? Does it simply mean that AI will backstab more often, or are there complicated algorithms that seriously differentiate the levels of difficulty? Examples?

RE: Economic Phase and OOB

<t> I think fjbn means that the sheet with all the corps' potential maximum strengths is public knowledge. e.g. French 1st corp could potentially have 20i and 3c, and so on, so Austria knows at least that Nap with 1,2,&3 corp could in worst case scenario have x number of inf and y number of cav ...

RE: How many mails in PBeM

<t> I think there may be many more emails zipping back and forth each turn, if only for the diplomacy phase. One 'problem' I think may arise: during the board game, a player trying to scheme in some way always has the option of plausible deniability, but with diplomacy taking place predominantly in ...

Young guard commitment could be limited to a level one shift I suppose, leaving Old Guard for the level 2 shift.

Cavalry, Guard, Army restructuring

<t> It probably can't be squeezed in now, but maybe for an upgrade...<br/>
In the manner of subdividing the fleet designations, how about dividing up the cavalry into Light and Heavy? Light would be a bit cheaper and quicker to build, and more useful during battle follow-up (both offensive and ...

RE: multiplayer games

rodo,

The phases would be executed one after the other, but for smooth play each player could be working on his turn at the same time. Don't know what this would do to the code situation though.

RE: multiplayer games

Neverman,

Players wouldn't have to wait for each other in an ip game if the turns were being played simultaneously, which could then be executed in turn (which would add an element of FOW). What do you think?

RE: AI diplomacy?

<t> I think the comp has to retain control of itself--because an AI country can still ally with multiple others, no?<br/>
But I agree that there should be some sort of checklist to ask the comp ally different options. <br/>
Perhaps also the comp could somehow give allies during diplomacy a general ...

RE: Naval asspects of the war ?

Is it necessary to be at war in order to mess with someone's commerce through privateers, or can one wage a sort of commercial guerilla war without a formal declaration?
