I found the advanced naval rules boring. I could not se a point in any other than GB (without Nelson) choosing linear attack (for the +1), so it did not hava paper - scissor - rock effect.

Reason given in original rules were that - for instance Lannes never commanded a seperate force larger than 1 corps. Given the scale of the game corps commanders are simply not displayed.

Actually there is a reason. It would change the game balance if you could keep a reserve of those "special troops" above what your corps allow you.
