RE: Cannot Disband a Task Force

Also, if it is a transport TF with supplies or troops still loaded, you cannot disband until they are finished unloading.

RE: Reporting in

<r> Hey, <br/>
<br/>
I'm new to WITP and war gaming in general but I love reading your AAR. It's interesting because you two obviously have some gaming history together and the posts have a certain personality that other AAR's lack. It's fun and informative to see what kind of strategies you both ...

Avengers using bombs only for port attack?

<t> Did I miss a rule in the book or something?<br/>
<br/>
I port attacked Palau last turn with 6 CV's (heh) from 2 hexes away. My Avengers either launched torpedos and got 0 hits (highly unlikely imo with about 80 attacking), or they launched bombs instead of torpedos.<br/>
<br/>
As I said, I ...

I'm happy to report that the 27th USA Division with engineer support took Maloelap, despite taking heavy losses during the engagement. Now I'm looking into making some more moves in the area and I ...

RE: Organizing Air Cover for Bombardment TF's

<t> Well this is vs AI to clear that up...<br/>
<br/>
I'm having some trouble getting my bombardment TF not to chicken out, using the retirement allowed option. I had a strong bombardment force (5 BB's, 5 CA's, 5 CL's) and 3 CV's in tow, and a good aggressive surface fleet commander, but after an ...

Organizing Air Cover for Bombardment TF's

<t> With a whole bunch of newly fixed up BB's at Pearl, I decided to whistle up a bombardment TF and go hit Kwajalein. From previous raids there, I knew (or thought I did) that Japanese air in the area was almost non-existent so since all my CV's were off doing other things, I sent the CVE Long ...

RE: Countering Japanese LBA in 42.

<t> Best tactic I have found so far is to group squadrons at single important bases to gain a numerical advantage (replacements set to on). Dangling some unloaded AK's or other ships in port will attract Japanese bombers - your consolidated air forces will gain experience and can then be dispersed ...

How bad would it be...

<t> for the Japanese to lose 5 BB's in less than a week during early April 42?<br/>
<br/>
Designed to 'rain on the parade' of the Japanese forces Rampaging through Borneo and Java, Operation 'Thundercloud' was a smashing success: Japanese BB's Karishima, Ise, Mutsu, Hiei and Fuso were caught ...

What would you do?

<t> It's March 42 in my game vs AI and in Burma I've got all my eggs in one basket - Rangoon. Aside from a handful of Indian brigades, baseforces and artillery regiments I've got nearly all my forces in Rangoon. <br/>
<br/>
Base expansion went without interruption during the siege of Singapore ...

Pilot replacement formula?

<t> Can someone please clear up how the pilot replacements work? I know in the manual it says that aircraft stationed at bases only look for replacements 2 out of 3 days (or something like that) but that aircraft stationed on CV's will look for replacements EVERY day that they are at a base.<br ...

Ideal cap altitude?

<t> I seem to recall in the manual that climb rate is very important to air combat (duh) and that if on the air combat animation screen it says 'AVG climbing to intercept bombers' it means that they are too high for your fighters to intercept. <br/>
<br/>
So aside from the aircraft (don't remember ...

Countering Japanese LBA in 42.

<t> I'm sure that everyone goes through the same thing as the allies in the early game, but Jap LBA seems to ALWAYS ruin my plans. <br/>
<br/>
There are very few targets (Soerbaja being the only one I can think of off the top of my head) where Jap Bombers fly unescorted (a good opprotunity to ...

Overland supply questions

<t> Just reading the manual (it seems to be about all I'm reading these days) in regards to overland supply.<br/>
<br/>
It states that if a base without supplies is 'close' to a base that has an abundance of supply, the computer will automatically ship supplies overland to the bases that need them ...

RE: Invasion by sea, step by step.

<t> This is against AI (my first game, want to get used to it before I try to tackle a PBEM game). The KB is currently hammering southern DEI and Java, air search patrols out of Rabaul, Palmyra, Noumea, Suva and Baker Island show no enemy carrier force activity, sub patrols near Kwajalien and other ...

<t> It's is Feb. 8/42 and after a thrilling raid on Truk (CVL Shoho sunk, 70 Japanese aircraft destroyed, multiple transports sunk/damaged, torpedo hit on the BB Hiei at the cost of 20 planes destroyed, 1 torp hit on BB Colorado) the Lex, Enterprise and Saratoga are retiring to my major base at ...

Surface Combat TF's & Reaction phase

<t> It's Jan/42 and I've managed to slow the takeover of PI by making good use of a small Surface Combat TF (The Boise and Marblehead, with 4 assorted DD's, Houston en route to Sydney for major repair after being torpedoed) and have sunk/damaged an estimated 25 ships. I like to keep my TF parked ...

Support in short supply, allies Jan/42

<t> After a needed restart (*sigh*) I'm solidifying the Pearl - OZ route by building a major base at Canton island, supplying Noumea, expanding Port Moresby, and reinforcing Rabaul. It seems at 3 of 4 locations (and any other expansion points I've considered) I'm always short of support. Is it ...
