Can I get a fighter squadron instead?

Okay, I asked because I transferred an understrength dive bomber unit somwehere in China to a base containing another unit of the same plane. The game consolidated the units, which didn't bother me too much... Until I realized I was now one unit shorter.

Ahhhh! That explains it... If I skipped the animation I wouldn't have seen all those bomb hit reports.

<t> That's what I thought was probably going on. I do have fog of war on. I also have the historical turn one concept. I generally skip the bombing animations (of ground targets)... If I do this will I have also skipped the air-naval combat animations also?<br/>

Is it possible to create an entirely new air unit when planes and pilots are available?

I just started a scenario as the Japanese, and had what I thought was a strange result at Pearl Harbor. My planes blew the hell out of the bases, but not a single ship was hit. I don't think I changed any orders... anybody experienced anything like this?
