Okay, I asked because I transferred an understrength dive bomber unit somwehere in China to a base containing another unit of the same plane. The game consolidated the units, which didn't bother me too much... Until I realized I was now one unit shorter.

The disbanded unit was probably placed into the build list for future redeploy. If you recall the name, check your a/c replacements schedule.
