RE: Help with Scenario Design - Info needed

<t> Wow, excellent information, that is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much! I'm leaving (moving) tomorrow morning, but I'll get to work on the individual scenarios starting after I get settled in, probably towards the middle of the month. And thank you also IBT, I hadn't noticed it when ...

RE: Help with Scenario Design - Info needed

<t> Oh, and by the way, speaking of casualties...for those that have argued that no WWII era battle had the sorts of casualties modeled in WaW...I just thought I'd point out that the Royal Regiment of Canada landed 27 officers and 516 enlisted...of those, 3 officers and 57 enlisted survived, and 224 ...

RE: Help with Scenario Design - Info needed

<t> Thanks for the info...the stats on the totals for the 4th Inf Bde should help me narrow down individual unit counts there considerably. Also, according to the first post there, the Calgary Tanks were certainly not of the composition that had been given for them (I know the number of tanks I had ...

RE: Help with Scenario Design - Info needed

Thanks guys...hopefully you'll say the same after playing it, lol! BTW: Any chance you've still got the map laying around from your old scen WB? I'd like to compare it with the one I did, as the one I did is based on present-day sat photos...I couldn't find any WWII era maps of the area.

<r> The Skink was a Canadian AA Tank...one of many Canadian designs of superior ability and design that got killed due to poor funding and political considerations IIRC. Also IIRC, it was based on the Grizzly I Chassis (Canadian built version of the M4A1), and mounted quad 20mm Oerlikons, plus a ...

RE: Anyway to force SPWAW long campaign maps to be bigger?

<t> Not sure about the random long-campaign maps...but if you like enormous scenarios, you will probably like the Operation Jubilee (Dieppe Raid) campaign I am working on. The final assault has the potential for you to be in direct control of ~5000 Infantry troops and a full armored regiment...plus ...

RE: Help with Scenario Design - Info needed

<r> Actually, that's exactly what I'm planning <E>:P</E>. But I am also trying to work out a way (using the branching campaign possibilities and the various "special" VH types) that the initial scenarios can actually have an effect on the final main assault. For example, in the historic battle, the ...

RE: Help with Scenario Design - Info needed

<t> Yes, that one scenario by Drake was the only one I was able to find however. I can't find the one that Wild Bill did, or any others. And it (Drake's) only models the involvement of the troops involved in the Red/White beach assaults. Admittedly, it does look like a quite nice scenario, I was ...

Help with Scenario Design - Info needed

<t> I've been working on recreating Operation Jubilee, the massively unsuccessful amphibious assault on Dieppe in August of 1942. I've got the map finished finally, and I know what units took part, as well as total troop numbers and types on the Allies side. What I am looking for is if anyone has ...

RE: Das Reich Campiagn Posted!

<t> Ok, they only lost 482 men in mine, and 29 arty. There must have been more defenders in the town to kill than I thought. Still, a fairly small difference in total kills and losses for it being the difference between a DV and a draw. Ahwell, I'll just have to move faster this time and kill off ...

RE: Need playtesters.

<t> I haven't spent a lot of time in the editor yet, but you can do alot with the waypoint system. If you place a series of waypoints directly in front of each other, it will slow the advance of the unit assigned that route by a good bit (they wait till the rest of their platoon has reached the ...

<t> How many turns did it last? The full length? You suffered higher losses than I did, yet I ended up with a draw...<br/>

EDIT: Actually, looking at it again, with the Krupp in there too, I may have lost slightly more points worth of units than you did even though I lost less men. Though ...

RE: Das Reich Campiagn Posted!

<t> I think the biggest problem is the artillery. Especially the 75mm batteries. They hardly get any kills, but they blanket a huge area with suppressive fire. I think if you want to keep it weighted towards the players' advantage, but still require more work than just constantly adjusting arty ...

RE: Das Reich Campiagn Posted!

<t> Very nice campaign so far, though I think that scenario 3 (I think that's the right one, I forget the name, but where you defend the town after the "mushroom gathering" recon unit storyline bit...) is a bit out of balance...<br/>
<br/>
The support forces pre-placed on the map basically exactly ...
