You are correct, the road is off in that hex. It is running thru 1812 and should be in hex 1813. Also the stream is coded wrong too. It is running around the top of 1812 and should be running around the bottom.

I looked at that scenario last night and it is a scenario specific issue. The arty is part of the maneuver force and which has an assault mission. In the past I remember the arty moving forward but stopping and supporting the assault. We will need to dig into and figure out why it's not working now.

skeletonboi, Can you attach a a saved game file so that I can look at it to see if there is a problem. I checked this on my computer and didn't see the same thing. Thanks.

If the M1A1 unit drives into an unknown contaminated hex, they would take casualties. Like William said, the SOP to avoid does not necessarily mean that they are in a high state of protection. I don't know why the author placed the arty on the map for the AI and off map for the player. It shouldn't matter for the AI. It will use the arty whether it is on map or off. Of course, that does give the AI the ability to cover more of the map than the player.

I am not the author of this scenario so I can't comment as to the author's intent. But personally, I don't see a problem. The AI is not a human player and in setting up a defense needs help. The best way to use infantry in the defense is to put them in good, concealed terrain, set their fire disciple to "point blank" and let them enemy come to them. At close range, infantry can be very deadly even to tanks.

This is an interesting idea, not unrealistic. I don't think it has been looked at before. I have JIRA'ed this for the developers to look at as a potential improvement. FPSS-4831

I checked and confirmed the problem with the saved game file. I have posted this to JIRA for the developers to look at (FPSS-4803). If you change the state of the mortar unit (from Hold to something else), it will then accept the barrage order. However, having a Hold order should not effect that.

There definitely appears to be a bug here. I checked your saved game and at Maximum setting the spottable range is 1100m. At Medium range it is 3750m. I have Jira'ed this for the developers to see @ FPSS-4802.

Have you tried setting the game factors that have an effect on the speed of the turn resolution in the User Preferences. Set "Default game delay factor" to "0"; "Hex location flashes" to 3 or less; "Default Animation Speed" to 50. See if that helps the speed of the turn. They won't change the speed ...
