1.20 Patch Question

I was just reviewing the change log for the patch. I was wondering if the issue with St. Petersburg being susceptible to bombardment by Germany was addressed? (By giving it a port, etc.) It sounded like a serious issue for PBEM, unless the players made some kind of agreement.

RE: The Italian problem.

<t> I like the suggestion that the side a country plans to join be allowed control over their troops one turn before they join the war. This allows limited redeployment of the country's troops to adapt to current circumstances.<br/> <br/> I don't like the idea that you have the option of whether a c...

RE: Proposal for Patch - Land Unit Disband Change

<t> Perhaps the best way to make this work would be to calculate the distance (for purposes of the PP reduction) between the unit being disbanded and a country's capital cities. Say - the PP production begins to kick in if the unit is more than 5 hexes from a capital city. Anyway, it's just a though...

RE: Proposal for Patch - Land Unit Disband Change

<t> My proposal would consider only the British units in the UK (home isles) to be within the home territory for purposes of the unit disband feature and not any units elsewhere, including Canada, Gibraltar, Malta, Mideast, etc. (See above.) Armoured train issue should be separately addressed (maybe...

Proposal for Patch - Land Unit Disband Change

<t> First off, apologies if someone has already suggested something similar.<br/> But I propose the unit disband feature for land units be modified as follows:<br/> (1) No change if the unit being disbanded is within the player's home country and in full supply.<br/> In the case of the British Commo...

A demo would be nice, but it's a great game. The developers deserve to do very well, and I hope to see more from them.

RE: Every other wargame developer just got schooled

There is ZOC, it's just pretty easy to negate in the course of a turn! The AI is quite good at it, certainly.

I think you're missing Kubuyshev. This was discussed in a different thread.

RE: Great Game

<t> Add me to the group praising this game! It's a lot of fun - has depth to it without getting bogged down in details. I like the way that airstrikes, supply, and partisans are incorporated into the game. Also, the AI is quite good as far as AI's go. It just loves to mess with my supply routes! Goo...

RE: Is this game worth the price for WaW owners?

<t> Well, I disagree. I think AWD was a terrific improvement over the original and led to a much more replayable and interesting game. I think the lack of a lot of comments is due to the fact that it is an older game that is (unfortunately) not played as much anymore. But it had a terrific run if yo...

RE: Opponents?

See my comment in the main forum. The Matrix forum for this game has kind of died out, but the Slitherine forum is still active. (Slitherine's the developer of the game.) You will have no problem finding a game there, assuming you are willing to try the excellent Grand Strategy mod.

RE: AI and are there any active player?

This game still has a lot of active players, thanks to the Grand Strategy mod. However, everyone has gravitated toward the Slitherine publisher's forum. If you're still around, go to Slitherine's site and check it out!

<t> I agree w/RJH. I played the game a lot since it was released. I don't play regularly now but this is still a classic for me and I come back every once in a while for a new game or more. There's less activity but still people playing at any given time. I expect I'll continue to check in now and t...
