Is this game worth the price for WaW owners?

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Is this game worth the price for WaW owners?

Post by Knavery »

Hey folks,
I saw there have been some resolution updates as well as a slew of other things. And according to the product page, this works in Windows 7. Is this worth the money for someone that already owns World At War? Is it significantly better? Thanks!

In the same boat and just don't think it is. Don't see anything that really would make Me pull the mouse finger to buy this version when I have the previous one.

Still nice to look at the forums and see if some patch would change my mind, but it hasn't happened yet

Yeah I'm starting to agree with you. I'm going to take silence and the 65 views of this thread a big fat no.

Well, I disagree. I think AWD was a terrific improvement over the original and led to a much more replayable and interesting game. I think the lack of a lot of comments is due to the fact that it is an older game that is (unfortunately) not played as much anymore. But it had a terrific run if you look back to the first few years after it was released. If you are curious as to whether AWD is a significant improvement, I'd encourage you to just skim a few of the many AAR's.

One more thing. It took me a couple minutes, but I found a pretty good old thread discussing what some people thought of the improvements in the game. I hope this helps.

And of coarse if you purchase AWD you will be able apply my global map update to the game which improves the look as well as gameplay. See this thread for details. tm.asp?m=1627473
