Determining Potential Base Size

<t> If you click on (or run your pointer over) a friendly base or "green dot" the game displays the current and potential port and airfield size (ie "0 (2)"). It does the same if you click on an enemy base (one with a "flag" on it). However, if you click or run your pointer over a "red dot," all you ...

RE: house rules

<t> I would be cautious in using the photos as evidence of what operational formations looked like. For instance, if the tf was returning to port, they would probably shake out of their operational formation into an administrative one. Destroyers would form up by division to proceed together to ...

Waterlogged Aircraft Carrier

<t> In another thread I described how my CVTF took a severe thumping. I just managed to get the severely damaged Enterprise into Wunpoko at 4 kts with 67 systems, 88 flooding. Now that she's anchored, the flooding is slowly going down. She's at about 77 now.<br/>

RE: Things wot I have learned

<t> I don't seem to have learned much, as it happens. For the first time I was able to configure a landing force pretty much as I wanted, and to seize Lunga and Tulagi. Parts of the 2nd Marines and 105 Base Force still got left behind, though.<br/>

Things wot I have learned

<t> For the last several months I've been learning the UV system, mostly using the long Guadalcanal scenario (08/42 to 12/43). Thought I'd share some of my headaches.<br/>
<br/>
My biggest headache was figuring out how to set up a Transport TF for an invasion. It took me a while to figure out that ...

RE: Resupply by Air

Hm. That's what I was afraid I'd hear.

By the way, I really enjoy your postings about your games.

Resupply by Air

<t> I've read a number of historical accounts describing the airdropping of supplies to ground units during the advance from Port Moresby to Buna. Is it possible to do this in game terms? I experimented with this a bit using C-47's set to a supply mission, but when I tried to set the target to a ...

Number of Mines in Hex

In the after action reports I often read players referring to the number of mines they've laid in a hex. Where can you find information about the presence of enemy mines, and the number of mines you have laid in a given hex?

Thanks.

Bad Habits taught by AI

In reading through the posts about UV, I've often seen references to the AI teaching you "bad habits" which put you at a disadvantage in pbem. Can you give examples?

How do you sweep mines ahead of invasions

<t> I'm pretty new to UV, but have been reading the forum quite a bit. How do you use minesweepers (MSW/DMS, etc) to sweep mines. Will they sweep if you include them in a Transport (or other type) task force, or do you need to create a seperate Minesweep task force? If you create a seperate TF, to ...
