Empires in Arms Tutorials

Post by pzgndr »

Attached is a pdf copy of Murat's tutorial for the game that he posted several years ago. I thought I had this included in the beta files. I'll try to get it added for the next official update.

Anyways, the tutorial is a bit dated but still very informative to help get new players up to speed. How to start a game, how to set up units, how to perform basic functions, etc. The updated game manual provides more details and the later sections 16-18 provide helpful player notes and strategy articles.

Please enjoy the game!

Reading Murat Tutorial and the game manual is one way to go yes I agree, but I'm sure the vast majority of players would prefer video tutorials and lets plays to follow, all the most popular big Matrix games have experienced gamers doing video lets plays.[;)]

In response to this comment, I note that there are already several video tutorials for new players to review and learn from. Below are links to suggested tutorials, for several of the older PC version video tutorials as well as some of the newer boardgame version tutorials. The rules and mechanics of play are still essentially the same, with the difference being mouse clicks versus manual actions. Either way, new players can watch these video tutorials and learn more about the game. I hope this helps. Enjoy!

Please help me with game...

What help do you need? If you are having a problem with a particular aspect of the game, we can provide some guidance. I'm assuming you have at least looked at the Murat tutorial, reviewed some of the video tutorials, and skimmed through the game manual. What specifically is not clear that perhaps I can clarify better in the next game manual update for v1.24?

Hi Bill,

running through the Murat tutorial, but unable to load the setup file which it directs you to download. Is that because the main scenario is no longer called the Grand Campaign?

I renamed the setup file to "FrClassicCampaign1805-_Tutoreal.set". This enabled it to load, but I couldn't then end the turn as it says "Must add factors or remove units". Do I need to populate all of the units in this setup file?

Thanks & BR

I had to go back and see what you were talking about. Yes, the original Grand Campaign is now the ClassicCampaign, and renaming that setup file as you did is correct. I can't recall if that's a full setup or not, but if you're getting the warning to add factors then it's not a full setup. You need to manually place corps and fleets on the map and then add factors to units until all factors are assigned. It's a time-consuming process which is why saved setups are so much easier to use, and maybe edit as desired.
